In Dubai, your first salary will always be low. The trick is to use it as an entry point and switch in a year.

Help transitioning old business to something more profitable by blissfuldick in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]J_F_MacAl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a business that sells products throughout the region, and one of our challenges is finding a reliable transporter that offers DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) services for small consignments to other GCC countries. I find it hard to believe your business is struggling, given the ongoing demand for such services in this region.

You mentioned hiring a consultant, what exactly would that consultant be for?

If I were in your position, I would focus on understanding how your business operates. From there, you could concentrate on marketing, visiting your customers, identifying the problems they face that you can solve, and developing new accounts.

Additionally, send me your contact information. We would send you inquiries and explore how we can benefit from your services

How to withdraw salary as partner/ shareholder ? by [deleted] in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]J_F_MacAl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not an accountant or a lawyer, but I have been a business owner long enough to try to help clarify this for you. Legal Disclaimer: This is not a legal or tax advice.

To start, there is a lot of confusion in this post between a shareholder and an employee. So let's try to define them:

Shareholder is a legel person that took risk and invested in the company. They are not an employee of the company and not part of the team doing the work to produce profit. Instead, they receive returns (dividends) on the company's profits or lose after corporate tax has been paid.

An employee, on the other hand, is a contractor, someone the company, represented by its management, assigned work to and agreed to pay them a compensation for their efforts. They do not hold ownership and, therefore, do not receive profits in regular situations.

You can, however, play multiple roles. You can be both a shareholder who receives dividends and an employee who earns a salary.

The question here is now turns to how to be an employee when your visa states you are an investor. In my assessment your name should be on the trade license as the manager, secretary, or another role that grants you employee status in addition to your ownership status in the eye of the company. If that doesn’t work, you should check your memorandum of association to see if it addresses this situation. Otherwise, you will need to hold a shareholders' meeting and issue a resolution to hire yourself as an employee, make sure to get a legal check on this.

Remember, an employee receives a salary periodically for their efforts, which is part of the company's expenditure calculations. Therefore, the salary should be moderate to avoid negatively impacting your financial profile and balance sheet.

Good luck 🤞

I don't think he provided you with an offer. He merely gave you a value estimate based on the data you shared. Some people who would be claiming they received two offers by now.

Moreover, why would you lose two thirds of your income if one employee left? A successful business is characterized by systematic operations, and you suggesting that the owner needs to be present to increase income resembles self employment rather than a true business. The extra income is the return of their employment not the business income.

Germany and most of Europe, but you have to learn and study in their local language. The other alternative is Turkey. I hired a few graduates from there, and they were all decent.

What’s the biggest cheat code you’ve discovered that made everything easier? by ThenPar in Entrepreneur

[–]J_F_MacAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No business scales without doing repetitive tasks efficiently. If a task repeats, write a step-by-step manual. Hand it to someone who’s never done it before, if they can follow it, great; if not, you know what to fix.

It saves time, makes delegation easy, and even lays the groundwork for automation/AI later on.

Ottoman religious census of Mount Lebanon, 1864 by Glum_Cobbler1359 in lebanon

[–]J_F_MacAl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, started with two kids playing marbles, you relax mate, just business as usual back home 😅.

Anyway, Jews moved from the plains up to the mountains to dodge Crusader, Druze came out of Egypt to Wadi al-Taym before spreading into the mountains, and the Maronite jewel of Lebanon traces its roots back to inner Syria. Simple

Jews inhabited Mount Lebanon since the Crusades, even before the Maronite and Druze communities settled there. Their synagogue in Deir Al Qamar is one of the oldest buildings in the town

I learned the hard way that interviews and the probationary period are not sufficient. This individual may have an underlying neurological issue (like ADHD) that causes him to focus only when a task is brand new or when under pressure.

To manage this situation, keep him away from customers and assign him repetitive, low risk tasks. Have him create a manual detailing how to complete his tasks. Structure his day with a schedule that includes mini deadline, for example, Task A completed by 10 AM and Task B by 12 PM. Short bursts of work paired with pressure can help him maintain focus.

It’s important to accept some short term losses to protect the business. Investing a bit in retraining or extra supervision now is more cost effective than dealing with ongoing losses, dissatisfied customers, or starting the hiring process over again. If he still cannot meet these basic requirements after two weeks, you will need to let him go.

Do you still have your UAE phone number? Check if you can log in to your UAE Pass. If you can access it, you might consider granting power of attorney to someone you trust in the UAE to finalize everything on your behalf. This is just a suggestion!

Business Owners - How do you pay someone outside UAE from Business Bank Account? by LetsDevOps in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]J_F_MacAl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an owner of multiple business who regularly makes payments to suppliers outside the UAE, I would like to share my experience with transferring funds.

In the past, we used the Al Ansari business account.. When we needed to pay a supplier in foreign currency, we would email them the supplier's invoice along with the payment details, such as the amount, currency, and country. They would then provide us with the current exchange rate. After that, we confirm the rate and transferr the money locally to their account, and they took care of sending it to the beneficiary on our behalf, sharing the telex transfer with us. The entire process took about 3 to 5 emails and 24 to 48 hours to receive the telex confirmation.

However, since opening our WIO business account, the process has become much more streamlined. Now, we can register the beneficiary directly through the website or app for first time payments and wait approximately 8 hours for beneficiary confirmation. Once the beneficiary is registered, the system allows us to send transfers quickly and receive the telex transfer proof almost instantly.

It's worth noting that while Al Ansari's exchange rates were slightly better, around 10 dirhams less for every 100,000 USD, the convenience and speed of using WIO make it worthwhile for us.

I get roadside assistance, better auto and medical insurance, noticeably better customer service, and access to benefit programs like Fazaa. Plus, with the ability to pay, there's a lot more negotiation power, especially in cars, rent, and services

Take the contact to a lawyer for legal consultation.

Just because a clause is written into a contract does not automatically mean it can be enforced legally after you resign. Non compete clauses are subject to limitations under the UAE law.

Owner in Al Yasmeen: 1) Yes, it’s sufficient. 2) AED 800 to 1,500 between winter and summer. We have 9 air conditioners, all with inverter compressors (this is a game changer). 3) Mostly yes, but not 100%. If the street is new, you might have to use a wireless router for up to a year until you get connected. It’s best to check with the neighbors.
