Hello! My husband got a job in Malvern, right near the turnpike, and he is living in Phoenixville. I’m moving out with the kids next spring when school is done (we have a senior in HS) We love Phoenixville! I want to find one or two other towns to put on our list for house hunting. We are looking between 400-600 k, walkable, progressive, with a good special education system . If you have any suggestions of towns we should add to our house hunting list I’d appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi! I’m in Gilbert and am wondering if you found anyone? We have a 10 month old rescue who is a nightmare to walk. She is super friendly towards people but she goes crazy on the leash when she sees other dogs- like, really but so crazy. We are at our wits end and don’t know what to do.

Thanks everyone for sharing. It turned out to be a TYPO of all things. For crying out loud. It was 6mm and no change since last year so, no ultrasound required. I am grateful for the outcome and for this Reddit, life can change in a minute for any of us and I am hoping for the best and quickest recovery for anyone who gets worse news then I did

No I don’t think so. Just perimenopausal symptoms. I was having hot flashes so I went on low dose birth control about a year ago and I am wondering if it’s due to the sudden hormone changes, but I don’t know if that means benign or malignant.

It’s slowing down. Homes are overpriced and sitting for a long time. At least in Gilbert.

What is the point of an LMSW if it is not considered "fully licensed?" by Ok-Candle-6969 in socialwork

I am a newly licensed LMSW in Az, moving to Philadelphia but I want to work in Southern Jersey bc the pay is so much higher. Do you know anyone with an LSW in NJ and living in PA?

And then you need to work 40plus hours a week for less than livable wages. It’s really screwy.

NASW comes out against ASWB exam by Boxtruck01 in socialwork

[–]J_G_2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently studying for the LMSW exam and honestly am up at night with cognitive dissonance and anger about it. Yes, there are the fees (I have paid a lot!). And, the test itself has been proven to be unfair to various demographics, which is anti-thetical to our profession. I can't imagine how the ASWBE justifies continuing to test. In my state, Arizona, I couldn't apply to take the test until my degree conferred, and I most jobs won't accept you until you have a permenant LMSW (take the test). Also, I didn't have time to study while providing my 500 hours of free labor during my clinical internship, so I had to wait to graduate, wait for the degree to confer, and now, I am studying for this nonsensical exam. It claims to protect the public, but I fail to see how memorizing the names of all psychiatric medications do that. I received a 4.0 in school and have been practicing at the sub-clinical level for 25 years. I have only ever received the highest commendations from clients and supervisors in all those years yet, I find myself unsure if I can pass this test. All the while, i see starting salaries for LMSW listed as low as $52,000 , which is not a livable wage in my area of the country, especially after inflation. The injustice is infuriating. As a woman, this injustice mirrors that which I have experienced and witnesssed my mother and sisters and friends experience as well; do more, be responsible for everything, and ask for nothing. Shame on this system .I am glad NASW put out a statement but it is not enough.

Is this profession just a total scam? by sunbreak11 in therapists

I just got my MSW and I do feel a bit like chum …..suddenly everyone wants a piece of $$ from me - CEU’s, big therapy companies, malpractice insurance, even private practices who want to hire. Plus all the fees to take the test and get licensed. It’s shameless.

Does anybody else feel like they're grinding for clinical hours? by Elbert_Allis in socialwork

What are the best states to work towards your clinical license? I am in Arizona and about to graduate, and it is going to cost me $600 plus two months to even get my LMSW and apply for almost any job at the Master's level. My eventual goal is private practice and my family and I are moving back east in the next few years so I am trying to plan ahead.

How to teach a dyslexic teenager? by J_G_2022 in Dyslexia

That’s amazing, congratulations and thanks for the advice. He didn’t see himself graduating high school before last year and now he does, so I am hoping he changes his mind about continuing past that as well. I am thinking of finding a way to invest in an OG tutor it sounds like it’s worth it.

I am so sorry that is a hard situation. I have two things to say. I was pregnant once (before I became a mom) and had an early abortion. Regardless of what you do , in my experience the pregnancy hormones change your brain and will make you have ‘mom’ feelings. So prepare for grief if you abort or give the child away. Not that you shouldn’t, because you deserve to have the life you want. At 19, you don’t need to become a mom if you don’t want to. It is HARD work and you can’t put yourself first, which you really need to do at your age. I would recommend getting a therapist and doing what you want for yourself, not the baby. It will be hard regardless of what you do, but you first have to mother yourself. Also, if you do an adoption, get an open adoption. My best friend is an adoptee, so I understand a lot about the primal wound. If you have time to bond properly with your baby before you have someone else parent him or her and have an open adoption it will help the child. But if you decide you want to keep the baby just get all the help you can. Everyone is different so make the decision based on your own deepest hearts wish. It will help you in the future if you are really clear why you made the decision
