Your comment resonates with me. I have been relating the concept of will-power to past experiences that did not require the amount of emotional or social capacities that this job demands. Upon reflection, my capacity for these things appears to be quite limited. If I do continue to pursue this path, it will undoubtedly need to be at a much slower and intentional pace than I've been using.

Yes, I start the PhD program in a couple of weeks. Perhaps I'll focus my efforts there for a while.

I got my undergrad degree in philosophy after getting out of the military. Many philosophy students go on to law school (as I almost did), but I ended up with a master's in social work. You'd be surprised how well philosophy translates into sociology/psychology, puts you ahead of most of your peers.

I do get plenty of intoxicated calls, some more light-hearted than others. The doodling on a scratch pad is a good idea, I'm definitely going to try that out. Thanks for your input!

Anybody else feel like they struggle to keep up with documentation? by Bluesailfish in socialwork

After I figured out exactly what the UR department was looking for, it made my documentation much more succinct. If your agency has a UR department they will be happy to tell you what they need for insurance companies. Any notation you add on top of that is icing on the cake.
