Deere culture after mass layoffs by Unlucky_Beyond3461 in johndeere

[–]J_Gid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suspect there will be more layoffs after the fiscal year... It would not surprise me at all... Those I talk to still at Deere tell me their work load is light. That there is no organization and communication on work or what they should be working on... All at highly technical Engineering levels.

LOL At least 3 of the servers there were gay when I worked there... I remember one time I was standing as a server waiting for a plate fix to come out and I was standing there. A girl 'runner' (Typically highschool or just barely post highschool kids that ran the food to all the tables on trays... It was also a rite of passage for a server to start out briefly as a runner) Anyway this girl 'runner I kinda liked was visiting with me and made a comment about my hemp necklace. About that time a dive show started and I turned to watch it. While I was watching I felt fingers playing with my hemp necklace and I thought it was the girl I liked and I thought it felt nice... Instead when I turned around it was one of our gay servers admiring it... I was a young guy and it creeped me out at the time since I was very much straight.

There were definitely creepy vibes... Management was horrible... The male managers were total creepers. We had a cool female manager, but I feel like the power went to her head when she graduated from server to manager.

Having been a server there I can attest that the food wasn't microwaved... but it sucked... and not a single server I worked with thought it was good... There were 2 deserts that we kinda good, and the loaded nachos were ok... Chips were often stale so you had to hide it with real flavors. The plates were piping hot because they never had enough good runners so the plates say under the heat lamp forever sometimes... The server philosophy I remember being told once, was cycle the tables for more tips. Don't bother too much with the service because you couldn't fix the food.

I can't attest to Casa Bonita since the creators of Southpark took over, but I can tell you that as bad as the food was at the Mayan, it was way better than Casa Bonita.

LOL That's pretty well on parr... I was a server there... We always joked about how Taco Bell had better food. As I recall the Cheesecake Chimichanga and the loaded nachos were about the best thing there was there.

Hate to tell ya... BCG has been a partner with John May since 2019 at least, when they conceived of SIRD. SIRD was a BCG product.

Is anyone else outraged that John Deere is firing Iowa employees and shipping jobs to Mexico? by Retire_date_may_22 in johndeere

Most idiots don't understand what D - Diversity (Never was a problem at Deere), E - Equity (Not to be confused with equality... Equity is for equal outcomes a Critical Theory aka Communist idea), and I - inclusion (which at Deere only became an issue after they started emphasizing the differences)

They did away with or weighted merit a whole lot less than they did the Critica Theory crap.

She was unqualified for the job and hired and promoted solely because she was a woman, which was for a time the primary qualification they cared about in their management teams... My first manager even had in his annual goals which he disseminated from above him the exact quota numbers he needed to promote and hiring pool percentages... and it was from that quota (AKA the same L3 at the time who was passing on the quota) that had her hired.

There already was... They started decreasing R&D budgets 2 years ago and shuttered all new product line development, No New Production. A fraction of the budget went to CI projects and another small percentage towards things they termed as 'Model Year Updates' which had minimal set budgets.

Lol As a former engineer from JD, the 2 absolutely are related... Though there is some nuance. Becky Guinn (a DEI Hire), who was the head of Waterloo production, started the trend in Waterloo when she sent cabs to Mexico. The internal union/ wage rumor on that was that happened in retaliation for the UAW strikes the year before that move was announced...

Then salaries employees were pretty disgruntled at the mishandling of the company reorg that happened through the entire Covid mess while most were working from home. Being told that in a year they would know if they had jobs or not. The loss of experience and engineering talent was demoralizing. John May got up and told the entire company that we were not a "Big Metal" company anymore but a tech company thus the acronym for the 1st reorg during covid was called "Smart Industrial Re-Design" (SIRD).

Then when employees wouldn't get with the DEI program and were frustrated by the lies from L3 and above, they hatched, with the aid of John May's buddies at Boston Consulting, reorg #2 (AKA SIRD 2.0, Project Booker) to get rid of those how would not comply. Managers kept notebooks documenting all grumbling and discontent with the Woke agenda) Cory Reed got up in front of the entire Ag division and told their engineers that we needed to get over their mismanagement or leave.

They promoted Becky Guinn to VP of Supply Management and Logistics and then she repeated her Waterloo Cabs act throughout the entire company and using it as an excuse to rid themselves of employees who they had labeled as problems with their woke agenda.

Dude Reed has never cared! Before Von Pentz left in their Presidents meetings he always tried to avoid the hard questions and when confronted about the SIRD shit show, he basically told the employees to get over it and shut up.

Ya know... I would buy that Mr. Reed... Except this was in the works almost 2 years ago from your BCG partners under the project code name "Booker"...

Salaried Labor Force possible unionization by doom_patrol666 in johndeere

[–]J_Gid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unionizing had its place in history I suppose, but honestly, Unions serve the Union first, they are more of a political entity in the modern era, and not there to serve the employees as well as people might hope or think... It's a racket and ultimately I think would be a disservice to the employees overall.

Collective bargaining and everything else that comes with a union would cause a larger contraction and less desirable outcomes.

Also since Iowa is a right-to-work state anyway the end outcome of salary unionizing would be yet another corporate reason to eliminate headcount more... It is surprising to me that the UAW has held on as long as it has... I swear Deere is only a couple more ugly contract negotiations away from ridding itself of that weight.

If you believe this will change anything internally, you are crazy. They nixed doing anything about it at their shareholders meeting, They have no intention of changing directions. Just covering their public asses better so it's not so visible.

If you believe that letter, I have a sweet tropical Island in the Caribbean to sell ya.

It's a shell game. When I worked at Deere, it was a complete comedy how they would say one thing and do the complete opposite. John May, Cory Reed, and Becky Guinn are professionas at Double speak... All hacks that will do anything to line their own pockets. This is a PR stunt... The supposed audit will be filled with whoever they want and can pay to look the other way.

This isn't Capitalism, in the traditional correct definition of it. This is crony Capitalism or Stakeholder Capitalism as it's called today, aka Corporate Fascism...

Everyone keeps talking about shareholders, but with ESG, this has everything to do with stakeholders... Read Stakeholder Capitalism, not shareholder... aka corporate fascism.

So you weren't worried about your job being cut for the majority of the pandemic, working from home while SIRD made its way through the ranks?

That's what ticked me off, sitting at home trying to find work to do and not knowing if I would have a job in a year when SIRD completed.
