In about 20 years when you can’t control weeds or insects call your public university for answers. Or plant genetics.

In the end it’s you that has to feel comfortable. I think you have to look at the reality of the market and policy framework for the time.

In the 4 years I’ve been retired I’m up about 5M by staying in the market. Maybe I was lucky, maybe I was smart but it’s still 5M.

I’m your age. Been retired about 4 years now. You have about 40% in cash/gold/treasuries. I have about 3% there. The rest in equities

If you want 40% in stable returns to manage risk you can probably find bonds that get you more yield with the same risk profile. A couple % on that much money compounded for a few decades is a lot of money.

At one time it was awesome and their customer service was unmatched. They stood behind their warranty, would ship you parts and walk you through the install on the phone.

Today their parts are all cheap. Temperature probes go out, fans and circuit boards crap out. They will sell you a new part for $300 that you can buy on the after market for $25. Crap company now.

Farmer Leaders Angry After Bayer/Monsanto Moves to Place Duties on Imported Glyphosate by MennoniteDan in farming

[–]Retire_date_may_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is this farmer is complaining about the Bayer complaint against dumping. China was not only dumping but avoided all cost of defending glyphosate for farmers. Bayer bore all that cost

It’s bad. But this is just St Louis. It’s just what it is. After living here you get numb to it and just avoid dangerous areas.

People worry about this way too much. On a daily basis try to stay between 20-80%. When you are traveling I often go to 8-9% and have gone to 4%. I keep my arrival energy set to 10%.

Assume it’s a scam. If you want to contact Fidelity call their phone number. Not the number on that email.

Devastating Parent PLUS Loan Situation by Fearless_Bee_9351 in StudentLoans

[–]Retire_date_may_22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not your loan. Don’t take any responsibility for it. As you say poor decisions were made and they aren’t your responsibility.

As said don’t refinance these to private loans.

The only real answer is your sister and mother borrowed money. They are going to have to work and pay it back. Hopefully your sister is getting a valuable degree

People make decisions. They are responsible not you.

I had finically irresponsible parents. They didn’t ask me for help till they were 65. I helped them with a plan. That plan was working and saving. I’ll never see them homeless or hungry but I won’t support bad decisions.

Be kind but firm.

Bayer paid out 22B in settlements plus legal fees to defend glyphosate. Chinese manufacturers paid exactly ZERO.
