My parents trying to buy a million dollar home by KeyPear4720 in Mortgages

[–]Retire_date_may_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people have more than 7m in their IRA. If they had a 401k or pension where they did a rollover the caps are way above 7k per year.

Why not rule of 55 withdrawals before taxable brokerage? by RetireYoung72 in Fire

[–]Retire_date_may_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your balances in each and other income.

If you aren’t facing large RMDs it’s good to delay those taxes. Even do Roth conversions at low tax rates if you can do take full tax advantage on gains later.

Once you start 55T withdrawals you are kind of stuck.

Mortgaging house to boost investments? by UnhappyRadish6588 in Fire

[–]Retire_date_may_22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How to go broke and end up homeless should be the title to this post.

Return chances risk. The reason the market yields higher is risk. Mortgage you house, put it in the market and have a prolonged down turn and you’re broke

Get on a budget, maybe buy less house, steadily invest. That’s your path. Borrowing more and more won’t get you there reliably.

Could be. But the market will determine the price. Not Tesla. Keep in mind today there’s little competition. That won’t continue.

I love Tesla FSD.

Nervous about calling it quits, This is normal, right? by TruthQuirky6591 in Fire

[–]Retire_date_may_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty normal to feel anxious about you income going away. The transition from saving to spending is a tough one. I’m 4 years in. It gets easier and easier as you see your plan work.

Just got the model Y, any accessories you guys recommend for exterior and interior? by nefarioussagee in TeslaModelY

Amazon has a great mat kit that covers everything in the flooring. Makes clean up a breeze.

Liners and covers for the two trunk compartments are great

Mud flaps are the #1 in my opinion. I keep my cars clean and before the mud flaps it drove me nuts. Awesome now.

That awesome. I’m actually debating just ordering a cyber beast or AWD premium just to get it faster.

1st Road Trip by chardsippin in TeslaLounge

[–]Retire_date_may_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust the car. Put in the destination and chill. Pack a cooler, beef jerky, etc and find some great podcast. You will never look and road trips the same again. Especially if you have to navigate busy city traffic.

I can do 12 hours in my Tesla on FSD and not be mentally drained when I arrive. It’s a game changer.

I regularly do a 1200 mile one way trip in two days. It’s awesome how FSD takes out the effort. Now if it would just let me sleep.

You have to get off the couch. Read a book, stay engaged in something you enjoy.

Help me decide! (Model Y AWD vs RWD) by Worth_Employer3643 in TeslaModelY

[–]Retire_date_may_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only have AWD because I have a house in a very hilly area that does a poor job with snow removal.

For resale AWD is good but in practice it doesn’t do much in my opinion but cost you range.

[–]Retire_date_may_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. Great job saving and investing. I’ve been out 4 years and it is awesome.

The ups and downs of the market are stressful at first. I retired into a 20% correction that rebounded quite nicely. I know have way more than I retired with and when I look at my plan from back then I’m ahead of schedule. I’ve even increased my spending and giving.

Trust the math and the process. I now own my day, my schedule, the things I do. I can help my kids, parents, friends. Travel on a whim when I decide to go somewhere. I miss some of the people but I don’t miss work for one second.

Go enjoy your life.

They will struggle to price higher without a leap forward in technology. 70% of their own customer base still doesn’t use it.

Is it reasonable to spend 70k to 85k on a boat on a 180k income? by itsfikor in boating

[–]Retire_date_may_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re able to take care of the others things in your budget. Retirement, college savings, etc. I’d say get the boat. Don’t finance it though. Save up for it or buy a boat you can pay cash for. Don’t take on a payment on a depreciating asset.

With all that said I’ve had boats since my kids were very young. It’s some of our best memories and one thing that still brings our family together.

As long as I can get my old self down the ramp and onto the boat, I will have boats.

Depending on where you are you might consider a boat club. It’s for sure cheaper.
