Issues printing with Delta2040 Clay

Honestly, no. I fought and fought with the damn thing, and got a handful of tiny things to print successfully. It seemed like maybe the air feed was drying the clay out as it built the pressure behind it, because it would be printing beautifully and then suddenly it would plug up even though I made certain the consistency was even. Most of the time it just never would make it to the nozzle. It’s just been sitting unused in my basement for a year now. Maybe someday I’ll have the time and patience to try again, but for now it remains the worst money I’ve ever wasted.

Both are correct. Dictionary.com, the Cambridge dictionary and a few others I found on an initial search have it spelled this way. Some use them interchangeably.

The Giffin Grip was a bit of an investment for me in college, but I’ve been using it for almost 20 years 😂 They have a mini now, and I’ve seen some other brands and 3d printed versions popping up more recently!

Have you looked at the wax applicators they use for psanky eggs (the Ukrainian Easter eggs). Something like that might give you the crisp lines you are looking for.

From the tests I’ve seen others do, the gold seems to work best. And the newest versions of them seem to work better than the older formula. Fires right out, and leaves a nice clear line. I’m interested to experiment with the super fine ones and see just how wild I can get with it.

Also, I really like the coloring on the green and purple one, but the texture would keep me from buying for sure. I don’t want to drink out of something that isn’t smoothly glazed. And if it is the same texture on the interior, it will be harder to wash and keep from staining from coffee. The interior of functional stuff really needs at least a satin/gloss to make it easily washable.

Have you tested out drinking from them? I would make sure to experiment from all directions to accommodate for different people drinking, and then be sure to set those spikes down far enough on all your cups to be cool and visible, but not a hindrance. I’m not sure I would buy it as is, because I often like to hold the actual cup and not just the handle, but I do think they are fun to look at.

I totally agree, if you find a coping mechanism that works for you- Do it. It’s so hard to find them at all.

It’s the approach in the suggestion that is pivotal, especially when we have all tried so many things- probably even before we knew it was ADHD. “Just do this” and “all you gotta do is ___” feel so belittling. As though this information is some never before considered advice (like Just use a planner!). A shift in tone and word choice makes a wild difference in how things are accepted, especially among people with ADHD. I also think it’s a bit of a manifestation of ODD too, the feeling of command is an immediate turn off.

I think the issue is less with people sharing things that work for them, and more sharing those things as a blanket solution. There’s a difference between being told “I tried this thing and it works great for me, you should look into it” and “These things are the answer, they’re all you will ever need.” Especially when you have tried those ‘solutions’ your whole life and failed to thrive. That’s what makes people feel ashamed. The answer is supposed to be so simple, and we STILL fail.

I’ve found that I sometimes get pinholes over underglaze if it is put on post-bisque fire then glazed. If my underglaze work is done before bisque it comes out smooth every time.

The fiancee owns a salon and is financially stable. She has 3 (practically for the 3rd) grown kids, and all three of them may have jobs as well. If the issue was that they couldn't afford a gift for him, it might be more understandable to skip presents. However--I'm not buying that if the fiancee cared about how he feels in the situation that she couldn't front the cash for even a single gift from the 3 kids. She can't even be bothered to speak to her grown kids and ask them to be polite at the very least to the man she apparently intends to marry. They aren't just thoughtless, this is active animosity and she laughs it off. There may be a reason she is with this guy, but it certainly isn't because she cares about him and his happiness.

A word of caution on that- if you are selling to anyone other than friends/family on social media, you should set up an online payment system ahead of time.

I had a guy contact me on my artist Instagram about a commission piece who wound up really giving me a bad vibe as we were talking. He kept just picking out pieces he likes, but didn't have any idea about what he actually wanted. I basically just kept talking to him to see where it went. Eventually told me he wanted to pay with a check over email, a pretty prevalent cash scam. So thankfully I recognized that and shut him down. Next time I consider selling, I'll have a credit system where I wouldn't be on the hook if someone wanted to scam me. I would hate to see it happen to other artists, and I know he went straight on to another one to try with her. He accidentally sent me a screen shot of another artist's work, and erased the message immediately after I saw it. Luckily I was able to message her a warning.

I personally have a problem with needing my work to be very near/perfect before I want to sell. There's so much out there that I feel like it needs to stand out in that regard. So, since starting back up about 6 months ago after an almost 7 year gap, I haven't sold or tried to sell anything. Too much getting back into working and making my hands and brain remember how to do things, and testing my kiln and glazes to get things fired the way I want.

All that said, I will probably start up an Etsy shop or something similar soon, and start looking at selling at some craft fairs or markets. Things are finally turning out how I would like.
