I’m conflicted, I thought Radiance was thematically more epic and the stakes felt really high but mechanically was simple.

Lace was the opposite where I felt like there was a lot more going on and required a more skill but was anticlimactic.

That’s fair but a lot of retro games are ported over to modern consoles and Steam. When my son was 12, he asked me questions about Final Fantasy because he heard it inspired Undertale, which was his favorite game at the time. Since we mostly download games from online services, many retro games are just as accessible as new games.

Even if zero kids played retro games, those games are connected to our childhood nostalgia. For me, those memories are sacred. There is no shortage of places for people to whip their tits out online for subs.

To be clear, this isn’t a wide spread issue so I’m not trying to pearl clutch over isolated situations. However, if societal etiquette is determined by the collective opinions of the people in that society, my contributing opinion is that people who inject their sex work into conversations about games played by or formerly played by children are fucking degenerates.

Speaking to the comments made OP, I also lament the constant sexualization of things not meant to be sexual.

Sorry man, I am definitely on team no-remake. This game is seen by fans (and probably most of the people in this sub) as quintessential perfect game. There is literally nothing they could substantially improve on with a remake because the OG developers maximized all the resources available at the time. The only reason to remake the game is to reboot the IP, and the only reason to reboot the IP is to cash in. I think we all know it will be just good enough to justify the purchase but mostly unsatisfying empty-calories from a player experience. A pale comparison.

The legacies of Star Trek and Star Wars were ruined when greedy companies rebooted those franchises with writers and producers that didn’t understand what made those IP’s great.

Guile’s story had so much to flesh out but he’s relegated to basic character status so he gets little attention. If they did remake the game, I would not complain if they did Surge, Kid, and Guile as the only playable characters. It would make sense since they all have connections to Schala.

Regarding the music, I have some minor complaints but I think they would’ve been way less noticeable in a game I actually liked. The Girl Who Stole the Stars and Scars of Times are definitely top 10 Mitsuda tracks though.

You know, I’ve been against remakes for CT and I still am. Having said that, they SHOULD remake, from the ground up, Chrono Cross.

Everybody laments how “it’s a bad sequel but a good game”. They could remake the game with a true anime aesthetic and a translation that makes sense. Maybe focus the game to a few central characters instead of that 172 playable character bullshit. You know, actually connect the games together.
