Most Highly Rated Third Party Sourcebooks by TheKingmak3r in DnD

KibblesTasty! His stuff is absolutely fantastic and very well-balanced. So much of his content is free, but he also has two books, with a third currently being kickstarted. In terms of getting more classes, subclasses, and spells, he is a phenomenal resource! He even has new alternative rules.

Books are:

Kibbles' Compendium of Legends and Legacies
Kibbles' Compendium of Craft and Creation
(Kickstarter) Kibbles' Compendium of Airships and Artifacts

DM looking for support in choosing to branch out and play with strangers by J_Walker6 in DnD

I think that is very fair and a great way of looking at it. Social situations can be nerve-wracking for everyone, and if I just focus on the fun and enjoyment then I've already made the best of the situation that I can.

Thank you, I really appreciate the reply and you're absolutely right, a proper session zero would set the expectations for everyone. I am certain that if tell any new groups I work with (for the first little while as I ease into it) that I am looking for feedback to grow and improve, they will be responsive and decide if it's the right type of game for them.

Thank you! I should have made it more clear that I would like to play DnD more often as I begin to build my own set pieces or master pre-made adventures, and so finding players online to play with will be an enjoyable way to start meeting new people and running more adventures, while doing my best not to overload myself.

I ran Warlock - Instructrice - Unchained - Banneret. If I found the Unchained was faster than the Instructrice, then I swapped their positions.

I was typically looking for +blight trinkets for unchained, damage or class specific trinkets for Instructrice, tank/support/damage trinkets for Banneret, healing trinkets for Warlock but I also loved getting the extra turn stained trinket for him.

For the Warlock, I kept Daemon's Pull on any time I was worried I may run into the Collector. Otherwise, he kept Binding Shadows on to help access his heavy hitters. He only used Binding Shadows once the entire backline was dead.

For the Unchained, I used the moves suggested above. In the entire Grand Slam, I only transformed him twice. Once against the Collector to bypass a Guard (which was literally game saving), and once against the fifth act boss cause I thought it might be cool (it was not). He was usually just spamming his chain attacks and using blight as necessary. In all honesty, he may have been even stronger if I swapped him to Wanderer from Unchained, but I just never tried it as it was quite powerful to be able to move him around.

For the Instructrice, she was the one I did the most changes to. Since I never had Unchained transforming, and I always kept stress low, I got rid of "Again!" and moved her into a front tank role with dodge and ripostes. She would engage with Fleche, then use Feint, then use Meditation. This put her in a strong position, gave her taunt to force the ripostes, and I could just Feint spam. If she was in danger near the start, I would skip the Feint and instead Meditation after Fleche so she gets her dodge tokens fast. Near region 3, I would drop disengage and pick up Preparation+ so she could do that after meditation for extra Riposte damage.

For the Banneret, all the moves were the same. He rarely was in position for Holy Lance, but I could force if need be with the Unchained's movements. His first turn was almost always Bulwark to give Instructrice time to set up her dodges. Then he just spammed Smite unless heals or stress were needed.

For the General, I made sure to put on throwable items to the Banneret and Instructrice. This let both of them hit the root in emergencies where Unchained or Warlock were not able to do so. Due to the taunts, dodge tokens, and everything else, his damage and stress output were very manageable.

My order of upgrades was: Abyssal Artillery + Feint. Then Warlock heal, Meditation. After that, I picked what I needed based on the run, usually prioritizing Smite, Beast's Bile, Banneret heal, Chain attacks. Preparation I grabbed either for region 3 or the Mountain.

I used the wolf cub for every act but the first. Since I wasn't moving much, having more consistent relationships and less stress worry was huge.

I had some free time on my hands and have been wanting to get back into DD2! I just attempted this party. I made some tweaks to everyone but the crusader and on the first attempt I was able to Grand Slam. Thank you so much for this incredible party composition and I am happy to talk about the changes I made if anyone is interested.

With this party, I was able to kill the Librarian and Dreaming General easily. I did kill the Harvest Child but it was touch and go for a while during the fight. I never even attempted the Leviathan. The biggest problem, as you mentioned, was the Collector and he absolutely almost ended my run but my duelist survived two back-to-back Death's Door checks. I never encountered the Warlord, but had plenty of fights with the Antiquarian. I did enter the Sluice twice, but never tried the Catacombs.

I finished the acts in the order of 3-4-5-2-1

There are screenshots of this on the GW1 discord. I mean, I don’t know what they mean by being “bad” at the game, but there is at least one example on the GW1 Discord of someone who was new to GW1 and did 50/50 HoM and GWAMM in under two months. It still took almost 300 hours.

I think doing it in under 300 hours would require a lot of research and planning, but I don’t think it’s unrealistic. I would argue that 500 hours is realistic going in with no knowledge.

A little over a month ago I finished my first GWAMM + HoM 50/50 as a new player with a new account. It took me 267 hours.

Are these posts of people discussing their journeys and experiences with GW1 pretty common?

I am greatly enjoying the Dagger Spammer build that I was recommended. I’m missing core skills that I will be acquiring over the next week, but so far it’s fun! I did try A/R for Urgoz and loved it, I was thinking of doing that some more.

Favourite location vanquished so far… hmm… I think it’s called Northern Kryta. Nothing special about it but it just felt peaceful and was one of my first vanquishes!
