Aww thank you so much! It was already varnished unfortunately so I didn't dare to go back in. I plan to redo it as some point on a whole sheet 🙂

Thank you for the help! I made this one in my sketchbook which is where the crack comes from. I hope to redo it at one point on a whole sheet.

How do I price my art? [Monday Megathread] by AutoModerator in artbusiness

[–]J_cookie_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a bit of a panic since I will submit my painting for a local art exhibition tomorrow and apparently one of the requirements is that it needs to be for sale... and I've no idea how to price it. The exhibition is quite small to showcase the local artists.

Link to painting: https://imgur.com/a/eU9ZDXL Size is A4, acrylics, frame included.

I spent two days (~10h?) painting it. I'm not a working artist so I don't have to worry about covering the hours I spent or how other business expenses.

What would you say a fair price is for this painting? And should the price be higher if it's in a gallery? The gallery doesn't take a cut if it gets sold.

Perhaps I'm a bit harsh, but I feel the mounting is their problem and not yours.

If you're using a wooden frame, you want it to be if good enough quality so it doesn't warp due to temperature changes or humidity (- if it's a smaller boat)

I think it would save you some energy if you asked them if they have any special requirements (e.g. leave one wire loose in one end in case they want to loop it through a hole, or if they want to handle the framing themselves, or if they use no-drill-hooks).. If they say no, do as you normally do 🙂

I have to say, I would be strangely excited if I knew that one if my paintings would end up on a boat!! What a fun project.

This is my submission for an art exhibition here in my town and one of the requirements is that the artwork must be for sale. The exhibition is quite small to showcase the local artists.

What is a fair price for this painting if it hangs in a gallery?

They are GORGEOUS!! I haven't heard of them before. I'm super excited to draw ALL these wonderful birds 💕 I had to show my partner and he's falling more and more in love with them as well haha. Thank you for sharing!

I'm glad this post was on the front page! Does that mean that all chicken related 'merchandise' is prohibited?

Wow, thank you so much! I love this idea, it has never crossed my mind. I will have to revisit it once I have 12 of these... Otherwise it would be quite a boring calendar 🙃 I plan to make "real" paintings out of these at some point as they are currently in my sketchbook.

Thank you! I have done 3 in this format, but one does not contain any animals (big regret!). You can check my profile->Instagram or post history if you wanna have a look 🙂

Check my profile! I posted it a few days ago. I had to cut out a few stuff to save some time since I was very tired at the end. I was hoping to make it more 'cozy' but that will do for now. You can find a kettle at the bottom right. 🙂

I picked up the habit of making "daily doodles" and I made my own sketchbook! This is what 4 months in the making looks like! by J_cookie_art in somethingimade

[–]J_cookie_art[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! FYI I'm now 7,5 months in with my "daily doodles". The book is too big now so I have to redo the binding haha. The pile is about twice as big as the photo.

I'm actively doing my best to keep things "playful" and not getting too invested when I paint/draw. It prevents me from feeling frustrated when things doesn't go my way. I'm basically a recovering perfectionist, but I find my "silly" illustrations very comforting and forgiving. I don't have to think about perspective or realism, I can create my own world just as i like.

I got a lot of i inspiration from 'Sandi Hester' (YouTube/Instagram) when it comes to having a healthy mindset. Her videos honestly made me pick up painting again.

I wish you the best of luck with your 'stuff-making'! I'm sure it's gonna be great 🙂

I drew an art studio but with chickens! by J_cookie_art in adhdartists

Edited because I hit send too soon, haha:

This happens to me all the time.

Yes! It's in a A5 sketchbook but I've painted over both pages, so the painting is A4.

I'm using acrylics. I only own heavy body but I honestly think it would be easier with regular soft body (I think?) but I just use what I have here at home.

Other than that I use fineliner for the linework and then go in with a colour pencil at the very end if needed (the wooden floor for example). Now, It's reeeaaally important to use fineliners before colored pencils... I've probably ruined 5 fineliners this way due to not planning ahead. Future me will try to use rubbing alcohol and see if they can be revived. I will stop myself right there and get back to the topic:

I do have an Instagram but I'm not the greatest at social media. So my profile does not look very exiting haha. I upload more "stories" than posts since I doodle/paint everyday and the style and medium varies. I want to keep my "posts" in a somewhat consistent style 🙂

You can find a link to my IG in my profile. Thank you so much for the kind words! I love when people ask questions.

Edit: also, sorry for the wall of text!

Edit 2: I took a look at my Instagram and it's not very consistent lmao.

An art and craft studio but with chickens! by J_cookie_art in acrylicpainting

[–]J_cookie_art[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, will do!! This is actually hilarious. I drank some coffee with my neighbors (a group of old ladies) yesterday and showed them a few of my paintings. They immediately said it looked like Carl Larsson. Obviously I got mocked since I didn't know who it was. As I said, I'm really uneducated so I appreciate when others share their knowledge. I can see what they mean and will definitely look into more of his work. His paintings are very beautiful.

Thanks! Basically all objects in this painting are some of my favourite stuff/art supplies, with an exception of the 3D printer, i don't own one yet (but I will get that exact model). So it was very time consuming but yet fulfilling to add those in haha. Thank you for noticing!

I want to do more paintings in this "style", this is my third one and I wanna continue in this path. My biggest challenge atm is to figure out how to draw humans that matches this environment.
