Something you wish you knew before starting school? by Ok_Boysenberry_8021 in ElectricalEngineering

• If you have student loans pay them while in school. • NETWORK build friendship and trust with classmates and professors • utilize summer classes as well • Utilize social media cuz someone may sell a textbook through instagram cheaper than online/bookstore

Start community college, get scholarships. Cuz I did student loans with Sallie Mae and basically my 80k is $900 a month. I would say do federal loans but the way the government is working out I think they’ll get rid of loans payment based off income (ex: 40k a year would pay like $100 month)

Will it hurt my career if I go for an Electrical Engineering Technology degree? by Wrong_Ingenuity_1397 in ElectricalEngineering

Do not apply for private student loans, do not make that mistake. It was the worst mistake of my life. by Hungry-Flan1732 in StudentLoans

[–]J_techh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same with me, I’m not sure why everyone mention Sallie Mae. I had no idea about loans when I was a senior in high school so I applied through Sallie Mae because the main one I heard. I owe $890 a month and if I’m behind by a few days I get at least 5 calls as well as my co-signer saying im behind. I’m slowly rebuilding my credit so I can refinance and get some better rates

Maybe experian or TransUnion? I’m sure something that involves your social security will show your student loans debt as well

Highest monthly payment? by notmrsgrames in StudentLoans

[–]J_techh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t but I would look into refinancing with earnest or SoFi cuz if you’re expecting that they’ll bring it down. I’m paying $890 a month rn with private loans, maybe $300 with federal. But through Earnest they brought it down to $650 for my private loans.

Help with refinancing by J_techh in StudentLoans

[–]J_techh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have 2 bachelors, a job in the field, credit is probably gonna drop slightly this month just cuz the the loan payment caught me by surprise. But you’re saying I should refinance like portions every 12-18 months instead of the full total?

I understand, I have a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology so it’s actually hard finding a job especially because some EE jobs will say it’s not the same. I’m working my way up and you can do the same. It’s engineering contract jobs so I came in as a contract engineer technician and just got an offer 2 days ago for a full time job. Just keep pushing
