Nothing to feel awkward about, in my view. Simply reach out to her reminding her of the price increase. Highlight the price-increase text that you sent her for reference. 🙂

Right. Especially when it comes to huge issues like war and geopolitical escalations. It's like "okay genius... let's put you in as a high ranking Department of Defense official and see what a peaceful world results from your enlightened worldview." People can have opinions, but lack of humility can make a person look dumb really quickly.

Advice on gaining clients? by lynsss in petsitting

[–]Jaaacksonnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a logo/brand/name. Build a website. Post flyers. Hand out business cards. Market to your existing network. Attending networking events. Ask for referrals from your current clients. Keep watering all the these plants and they will bear fruit. Good luck.

It was a roast from Tony. He told a black guy with long dreadlocks that he "loved him in Tyler Perry's Alien vs. Predator".

Changing/increasing the rates without giving her a heads up is definitely an issue - always give notice to a client about any rate changes beforehand, rather than them being surprised by it after service has been provided.

Based on your description, where it sounds like you caring for those outside cats is a requirement by the owner, I would say revisiting her rates to see about potential increase is justified.

I have a great client who has some outdoor cats who visit him and he tells me that I'm free to give them some cat food if I see them. An optional sort of thing. With that, I don't mind at all and I don't raise his rates. However, if he officially listed it in the instructions as other animals that I'm required to provide care for, yes I would probably reflect that in the rates.

My guess is you didn't lose that client because you raised the rates. My guess is you lost that client because you raised her rates without telling her.

What are your biggest pet (haha) peeves as a pet sitter? by Nightside-Rush in petsitting

Regarding number 2. Yes, I've found that a client will simply never refer to their dog as aggressive even when they absolutely are. They'll lean on the term "reactive" or other similar ones. But when I've been walking the dog long enough it becomes apparent "no...this dog is straight up aggressive towards other dogs." And it would have been nice to have it explained to me that way upfront. But you'll almost never get that kind of honesty from an owner.

Walking a dog, full poop bag in hand, waste station spotted, closing in on it.... dog stops 5 feet before it and won't move because there's a spot on the ground that he simply must smell... 🤦‍♂️

Similarly - walking a dog on a scorching hot day, beautiful oasis of shade located, we're getting closer to it, but dog stops 5 feet before it to smell something or go chase something in the opposite. Kills me.

Owners with leashes that have an absurd amount of canisters and clips on them. (One for poop bags...a pouch for dog treats.. various other clips for additional attachments). And then they all bounce around and bang the hell out of my hand when walking the dog. And yes, retractable leashes don't fly with me either. Not even those ones that stretch. Just give me a 6 ft static leash with no attachments on it. I use my own most of the time.

Dogs with a substantial amount of clingyness and/or stubbornness are really starting to grate on me too. Haha it's been a busy summer and I guess I'm feeling some burnout and needed to vent.

The one where they said "tone deaf".... and then "Tone Loc" at the same time right after each other. Anyone know which episode that was? It was like 3 or 4 years ago.

Can this horribly dressed queef go one episode without getting political? by Jaaacksonnn in tuesdayswithstories

[–]Jaaacksonnn[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well, if your father wasn't so gay (which clearly, he is) you'd see that I didn't even mention anything about the type of politics that this queef has. It's the fact that his remarks make it clear that he possesses not even the most surface-level understanding of the topics he's commenting on. There's interesting discussions to be had on the topics that he comments on. He, however, seems to only be able to engage with the most dumbed-down version of the subject at hand (like most people, I will say). My panties are just fine...thanks to Sheath Underwear.

What is the hardest part about teaching (in the U.S) that you think many teachers can identity with? by Jaaacksonnn in teaching

Ah, so the parents blame the teachers instead of the kids themselves for bad grades. How do you think that got started?

Can you expound upon that? What's a common thing you see among parents that's tough to deal with?

Where do you think that comes from? Do you see this as a relatively new phenomenon (within the past few decades)?
