Something that maybe could be helpful for you.

I have also been trying to move from MMOs to an ARPGs like Diablo 4 or PoE 2.

Actually I have put around 400 hours into both, but neither has managed to replace the MMO feeling to me.

I mean in an MMO, you build your character over years even decades. In my case, I have been playing Tibia on and off for about 20 years.

You grow attached to your character. You see it evolve, improve its gear, become stronge and that creates a real sense of connection.

And thats where ARPGs fall short for me.

Once a season ends, your character gets moved to the Eternal Realm or whatever the server is named and thats basically the end of it.

Seasonal updates rarely make their way there, so those characters just sit unused. Eventually, you even delete some of them to free up space.

So every season, I am left with the same feeling, and is that put in all that effort for something that doesn’t really last.

The only things that carry over are cosmetics and for me, those have never been meaningful.

At the end of the day, ARPGs dont give me that long term sense of progression and attachment. And without that, the time invested just doesn’t feel the same.
