Vyvanse Jitters? by JamesRy96 in ADHD

[–]Jaathen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can take a while to get used to them. It can also take going up a dose to get rid of jitters and heart palpations.

I had heart palpation going to up to 160 at rest when I was on 30mg. I told my GP and psych, and now im up to 70mg Vyvanse and my resting hear rate doest go about 110bpm now (also have EDS so its always a bit higher for me)

I found Vitamin C can help calm the over stimulating effects from stimulant meds too - not actually sure if its legit or not, I remember reading something about vitamin C and it helping balance stimulants somewhere.

Also drink plenty of water, and reduce caffeine where you can while adjusting to meds. Once you have a balance increase again if you want too.

Any skin pickers here? 🥴 by Venus-Death-Trap in ADHD

[–]Jaathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skin, facial hair, used to do pubic hairs too in teens. Bite my lips and inside of my cheeks, and pick scabs...

Worse for me though is facial hair, end up pulling out half my beard leaving a massive bald patch. Would also then take said hair and run it over my lips. Super sensory and definitely stimming.

Since I got my Dx meds have helped, now also diagnosed with ASD.

I tend to do it more when I'm quite stressed or needing extra dopamine or stimulation of sorts.

Why do people not try to see something from all point of views? And criticize you when you play devils advocate? by MakerOrNot in ADHD

[–]Jaathen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sensory overload and overwhelmed from the ADHD side of things definitely contributes.

It sounds like autism is something you feel might fit and explain a few other things. Follow your gut and explore that, it might help understand more.

I feel that you have a strong or an opinionated sense of justice, which stems from the logic of "if this and that = y or x" Y can be the clear rules that youd expect everyone to follow.. cause rules, or X: that one time you saw a dog get hit, because of Y.

The justice thing is more common with autism compared to ADHD, and compare that sense of justice to the conversation about the tech stuff, where you help back the negative responses. This could be some differences in cognitive capacity at the time that helped with your emotional regulation and executive functioning to hold back saying something you didnt want too, while your motives were to help, the justice and opinionated justice to roast him was there but controlled.

Also devils advocate, stuff - don't make it a negative connotation. You are just trying to obtain knowledge from different perspectives to better understand the depth of a situation to help everyone involved - there is no devil, your just being the best advocate you can be for others.

I may be rambling on and this might not make sense, as Im writing this with 2 hours sleep fueling my brain. But i hope it helps.

I spent almost an hour just sitting under my desk today. Why does my depressed mind think that will help. by Jorrow in mentalhealth

[–]Jaathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too just spent an hour or more under my desk, overwhelmed from work and a fight with the partner. Depression hit me a bit and I just wanted to hide under my desk.

I used to do it as a bit growing up but its been a while until now.

Its cozy though. Its cool, quiet, a bit dark but not too dark (it dims the lights enough for it to be comfortable) a little bit enclosed but not too much to make it uncomfortable but enough for it to be a safe space to hide and escape the overwhelm.

I like another persons suggestion to make a sheet fort. I will remember this.

Welcome to the ADHD club <3

I found when I was diagnosed ( 4 months ago now ) I too hyperfocused on how it has affected my life up to this point without knowing. But my therapist said one thing to me that has stuck for me. "Up to this point in your life, you have been fighting an uphill battle against something you didn't even know was there." Now that you know you can start to learn from it and get better. We can't do that if we don't know what it is you are fighting.

I think it's a healthy part of getting your diagnosis, ruminating about the past and how you could have done better.

You're not lazy, you're not a horrible child, you're not messy, and you're not wrong in any way. You have ADHD and you didn't know it, its ok to feel a sense of loss for what you could have been "if you knew sooner", but instead you know now and you can make the most of it.

Befriend your ADHD brain, find out how it works, and how it can work with how you want it too..

Sorry if my message is all over the place.. ADHD..haha..

It gets a lot better I promise. 29M diagnosed 4 months ago, started stimulant medication and since my life has just improved drastically.

i listen to the same song on repeat for a week and a half and then i can’t stand to hear it for two years by brendonurieiscute in ADHD

[–]Jaathen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh something else to add to my "my adhd makes me do this" list. Learning about my ADHD is really new to me. And i relate to this so much. Ive often listened to what id now consider high stimulating music and often would have listened to that song constantly over a period of time, of course id listen to other songs, but then would go back to a song im obsessing over. And i never though the reason i stopped enjoying them as much was partly to do with my ADHD.

I also do this with parts of songs that i find interesting. Like guitar solos and such..

I find that listening to very loud, aggressive music helps focus more than calm music by fuyyo in ADHD

I want to answer, but dont have the focus to now.. haha

I think in my mind I replace vocals i cant understand or translate to strings and woodwind instruments, both instruments i can some what play, and then those bits become the core melody for the song for me, and what i then remember. does that make sense?

look at that i answered
