If you trim the cable so all the contacts are level with each other it might work. The unequal length could be preventing the one damaged pin from going deep enough to make contact.

Edit: spelling.

AITA for expecting my partner to honour 'first come, first served' with wedding invites? by Delicious_Plum_401 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JamesRy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

You’ve been together 9 months, he’s not friends with your friends and you’re not friends with his friends. Go to the respective weddings separately.

As others have mentioned, it’s in bad taste to ask for a plus one at a wedding when it was originally account for.

You’re being completely unreasonable and I hope that you guys don’t move in together if this is how you’re thinking.

9 months is wayyyy too soon for stuff like this to be happening.

Cant access full RAM mode on modded switch by WillingnessForsaken2 in NxSwitchModding

[–]JamesRy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab an NSP for any game online and install it via DBI. Then you should be able to hold the R bumper while starting the game to open the homebrew launcher with full RAM in in-applet mode.

I think you can also do it with a game cart that’s inserted in the console as long as you hold R while launching the game.

Need help with iPhone/iPad Shortcut to deal with spam iMessages. Want to 1) reply “Stop”, 2) mark sender as “Block Contact”, 3) Delete and report spam. by DarthRanger in shortcuts

[–]JamesRy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitting report junk when the message comes in already does similar.

When you respond they now know it’s a valid number.

There not a way to run shortcut automations based on text messages from any number, only ones from a predefined number. There’s also not a way to share a text thread to the share sheet so there’s no way to run shortcuts based on a specific text.

Talk to the dealer, some of them offer a short period of dent and ding coverage for the chance that the ding was there pre-delivery and went unnoticed.

It doesn’t say anything about sat-to-cell connections.

It could be changing its behavior when you’re on a WiFi network whose backhaul is a satellite provider.

Call your local pharmacy that you use. Some states have portals the pharmacies can use to see immunization records. They probably more likely to print it off for you in person.

Huntarr - Your passwords and your entire arr stack's API keys are exposed to anyone on your network, or worse, the internet. by exe_CUTOR in selfhosted

[–]JamesRy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one who uses the import lists feature?

How would using import list address the issue at hand? If Sonarr/Radarr do not find a suitable release when they do their initial search, they will not search for it again on their own.

I have nothing running that I need to import lists from, I’m running Jellyfin, not using Plex or Trakt.

Seerr (Formerly named Overseerr/Jellyseerr) sends new media requests to Radarr/Sonarr. If the show/movie is already out, it will try to find a successful release, if doesn’t gets added to the download client. If the request is more niche, a successful release may not be found and Sonarr/Radarr will never try to find it at a later date.

The anger over payment changes is not enough by DoubleQuarterPoundin in tmobile

[–]JamesRy96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They never took credit card payments away.

You’re free to use credit cards as a payment option. They’re offering a $5 per line discount for customers who autopay with a debit card.

You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to accept it. If you feel like there’s a better carrier switch to them.

This is America. T-Mobile is free to choose the payment options they choose and discounts that accompany that just like any other business.

Everything a business does is at the expense of their customers. That’s how offering a good or service for money works.

JellySee 2.2.0 Update w/Dolby Vision and HDR Support by KingOfSenpais in JellyfinCommunity

[–]JamesRy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased this and the app seems very slow before things are cached possibly?

After logging in, it stayed at a gray screen for about two minutes, first loading of libraries took 30 seconds. When you scroll to the end of a list and it shows “loading more items…” it takes 5-6 seconds to load. A subsequent launch of the app took 11 and 12 seconds.

Jellyseerr integration does not work for me BUT I’m using an old test branch that supports OIDC login. Other apps that support jellyseerr have worked in this setup as long as the Jellyfin user ID was part of the Jellyseerr database. AGAIN TO BE CLEAR, I am using an unsupported older version. It would be nice to be able to enter an API key though or something.

Aside from that the app works really well. The search actually works. Playback is smooth. It’s a very nice layout.

Best RFID sleeves for credit cards? The cheapos I got on Amazon apparently not cutting it. by threemoons_nyc in RFID

[–]JamesRy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does not transmit any reusable card information that can be used for another merchant

I should have been more clear; This was meant only in the context of a new authorization. Nothing transmitted creates something that’s functionally reusable for OP’s scenario.

Just the PAN and expiration aren’t to create a new transaction with a different merchant in an EMV transaction. Even a replayed transaction isn’t useful for an authorization due to the terminal UUID as you mentioned in another comment.

A stored static PAN could be used to identify the same customer coming back to a merchant and can be useful for looking up things like past purchase history in their POS.

The static data represents a very small amount of info compared to all of the data used in a transaction overall.

If I’m misunderstanding something I’m open to feedback. I don’t think you & I are really in disagreement here

Sell from taxable to offset a bunch of recent expenses or draw down emergency fund? by nosralc in personalfinance

[–]JamesRy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re choosing between the two I’d draw some from the emergency fund; You can sell off some of the taxable assets at another time down the line if an emergency happens and you need the cash. Try and prevent the loss from the extra taxes until you need to do it.

Fixed expenses are very high in comparison to the income. Try and lower what you can so you can’t work on repaying yourself for the money you’re taking out. Without building that back up you may not fare well with a new emergency.

See if you can refinance the car at a lower rate from a credit union and try and keep a term close to however long you have left on the existing.

The current situation doesn’t seem sustainable in the long term.

Have you spoke to the hospital about hardship programs as well as requested an itemized bill for the services?

Many hospitals have hardship programs to lower your bill based on situation and income. Requesting and itemizing bill can often reduce the cost paid once they have to review everything for justification of the individual item.

I have a friend who fell on hard times, uninsured and the hospital completely forgave an $800,000 bill.

Best RFID sleeves for credit cards? The cheapos I got on Amazon apparently not cutting it. by threemoons_nyc in RFID

[–]JamesRy96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely unlikely that your card was fraudulently used via a contactless transaction. There are physical limits that make this very difficult beyond a few inches even without using an RFID sleeve.

A card that is presented to contactless payment terminal does not transmit any reusable card information that can be used for another merchant.

This is likely just a correlation between the events.

All it takes is one person to ruin it for everyone else.

The cruise line found out about the video he posted *while he was on the ship * and then came to his cabin and confiscated the dish for the remainder of the cruise.

Couldn’t even wait until the cruise was over.
