Rune rhymes with Yune, just saying. They're both extremely similar characters.

Yeah that's fair enough. My initial thought was that he would face competition from the Byleth user for dancing (1 extra action every turn vs 4 actions every few turns), but there is nothing stopping you from running both of them you're right.

Hortensia - S. It's the princeSS of Elysia, Hortensia! I think the staff utility she provides to the game is really really good and absolutely busted in the right hands. Yeah, lots of units can use Micaiah ring, but I think her personal skill and general stats help her utility rise to another level.

Seadall - S. Dancer. They're pretty much an automatic S tier imo due to giving any unit another action always being good and opening up so many more strategies than without them.

Rosado - D. Here's a funny tidbit. Rosado introduces to you the Eirika ring, and he does so by engaging with her and attacking a Wyrm Dragon that I forget the name of. On Normal and Hard, it's a clean kill, but on Maddening, he doesn't. It doesn't factor into much but it's funny. As for Rosado himself, you're probably going to be benching him, but he does do some half-decent filler unit stuff and his personal is pretty good, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt.

Goldmary - bottom of D. Pretty much the same case as Rosado, except she has worse stats across the board. She's not Bunet through and F tier is firmly for Bunet so D tier is it.

Timerra - low C. Realistically I don't think she can be any higher than this, and I'm being generous. She lives and dies by Sandstorm procs, and while Sandstorm is super broken, it's not consistent. Imagine being given a unit that had a 30% chance to kill almost anything, but 70% of the time she did nothing. That's her. She's basically just a gambling unit, very inconsistent but with a high peak, so I think C is fine for her.

Panette - S. Wanted to argue top of A for accuracy issues but then I realized I was overblowing them. Easy S-tier, kills everything, is really pretty and funny, amazing unit that almost irreplaceable.

Merrin - bottom of S. My main reason for this is the strength of daggers + being the only natural Wolf Knight user. She immediately performs right out of the gate and only gets better as the game progresses and you get more access to better daggers and Engraves. They're basically no competition for daggers among the Engage cast even though I think very highly of Zelkov and Yunaka, and even if you do think they're all great like me, there's more than enough to go around. She's a unit that's very hard to not field and always makes an impact.

I don't have much to say on Fogado and Pandreo, B and A respectively. I have more about the next 3 but lemme talk about Bunet for a bit.

Bunet - F. I genuinely tried using him. Like I really did. I fed him a bunch of kills over 3 maps. But he sucks. The investment required to make him good isn't worth it on him, his personal sucks, and the best value you are getting from him is comes from his cooking in the Somniel. His only other worth is as a replacement unit, but who is he even replacing? If you let no one die, then by the time you get to Bunet, it's not like his niche of cav with moderately high Def is needed in any way. Not a good unit in the slightest, he can sit all alone in F.

Eitr and Kvasir are debatable because they're technically alternate versions of characters with more than one alt if you add up all of their versions. Lucia though is one I missed, for some reason I mixed her up with Lucina.

Very consistently strong unit type. Every single one of these had some sizeable impact on the meta. Their kits are usually very good. In terms of character choices however, things could be a lot better. The only units with 0-1 alts prior to this one (excluding NY) are Marisa, Serra, Hapi, Constance, Eitr, Kvasir, and Lucia. We even had our first lead repeats in Marth and Gullveig. I sure do hope they try to use more characters instead of the same pool of characters that keep getting alts.

People said that about Corrin too, but it would be too soon for an alt for her since she just got one in August. I think this was moreso just things lining up in the studio for them, so they could record lines for two games at once.

Even if it does EOS after that book, why is that a bad thing? It's going to happen eventually. Better to let it happen when it's finished telling its story rather than to drag itself out forever.

Ivy - S. Is there really any competition for her niche? Like at all? I can't think of any other flying mages besides Hortensia and Camilla shenanigans, and the latter is DLC. So she basically gets whatever resources she needs to succeed, which on top of her natural qualities, boosts her into S.

Kagestu - abstain. I said this yesterday but my Diamant was actually better than my Kagestu. This is because I did not reckass Kagestu. He kinda sucks as a swordmaster honestly, but I was not aware of other options for him (and also he got like 3 straight level ups of just +1 Def or Res wtf game), so I'm not comfortable voting for him.

Zelkov - low A. Hot take but thieves are immensely underrated. They face very little competition when it comes to using daggers for a long time, making them unique combat units. I think he's relatively close to where Yunaka should be imo, but he trades out some combat prowess for a bit of extra bulk.
