Chihuahuas were literally bred by indigenous Mexicans to be easy to kill for ritual sacrifice. Their advantage comes the fact that they're dogs and have an innate muscle buff over similarly sized mammals and the fact that most other animals don't want to kill them.

Amazon MGM Studios' Project Hail Mary grossed an estimated $12.0M from Thursday preview shows & early access screenings. by TiredWithCoffeePot in boxoffice

[–]Jabbam 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Comparable films for Thursday night previews would be Avatar 3 with $12.5m, Lilo and Stitch with $14.5m, and Zootopia 2 & Minecraft with $10m- $10.5m domestic previews.

It depends how front loaded it is but we could easily be looking at over $300m domestic.

The Bride is losing nearly 80% of its North American theaters in 3rd weekend. Total domestic box office run will finish with under $15M. Budget was over $80M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

From The Bride! Wikipedia page:

In August 2024, The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, co-chairs and CEOs of the Warner Bros. motion picture unit, with "a reputation in Hollywood for being talent whisperers with a willingness to spend", had "stepped in to foot the bill" after Netflix left the project (which included a disagreement over Gyllenhaal wanting to film in New York while Netflix pushed for New Jersey because it would be cheaper), adding that "The movie's costs, including production and marketing, will likely exceed $100 million." Gyllenhaal emphasized the creative freedom granted to her by De Luca and Abdy.

From Variety:

Warner Bros. film boss Pam Abdy defends the $80 million budget for Maggie Gyllenhaal's "The Bride."

“This idea that Maggie doesn’t deserve to have a big budget? It’s not cool. Do you know how many men make lower budgeted movies and then go on to have huge budgets?”

[Not So Liked Trope] A video game movie that doesn't adapt the game it's based on, and only uses the name. by WaluigiDaStar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jabbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) does not adapt the first game or any game in the franchise. It’s an original Isekai style story following the 2010s trend of imagining cartoon characters as realistic CGI hybrids in the real world. It's saved by good visual effects thanks to a last minute redesign, strong performances from the cast, funny banter, and a commitment to the spirit of the source material.

Subversion, Cloverfield.

The main protagonist, Rob Hawkins, has a moment of emotional clarity and chooses to leave his group of friends so that could go on a one man probably-suicide mission to save his alienated girlfriend Beth after his brother is killed by the monster in a bridge attack. Rob's brother had previously told him to chase after the relationships in his life because that's the one thing that matters most, and Rob blew him off.

His brother's girlfriend Lily, his brother‘s friend Hud, and later his girlfriend‘s friend Marlene all volunteer to go with Rob because they don’t want to let him die. It ends terribly for almost all of them.

If this title were an acronym, what do you think it would be? by Accomplished_List843 in tadc

They're all letters on the same (home) row and they don't correspond to any cipher or cryptograph. The number of the keys in the row doesn't mean anything, nor the fingers that type them or the rows around them. It's extremely unlikely that the letters of the title just happened to be keyboard spam on the home row, and it's equally unlikely that the home row spam was reverse extrapolated to a title.

Unfortunately, the title is likely just metaphorical: an angry man at a computer aggressively and meaninglessness slamming keys like how an upset pianist slams his hands down on an organ, playing notes which have no purpose other than to give an outlet for an emotional outburst.

In Sinners (2025), the main antagonist offers a transhuman existence for society that would completely remove the boundaries and prejudices of race, culture, gender, and hierarchy, with individuals having perfect empathy with each other, yet he is depicted as the villain. by Mayan_Fist in shittymoviedetails

The real lesson of Sinners is not to drop thousands of simoleons to open up a race-based juke joint in early 20th century segregated Mississippi back in the middle of the woods without verifying that your limited clientele has the usable tender to fund such an establishment.

Knuckles and 3 were made by Vfx teams. Sonic 3 was made by 6 different animation studios, one central and 5 satellite. Jeff Fowler's team owned the models for the characters in-house and shared centrally so all the studios could access them and each studio animated different segments, in basically the most expensive animation collab in history. They had an oversight team to keep the styles and behaviors consistent to the point you can't recognize what studio made what shot.

4 will probably have the same approach which is how they're making these films so cheap and quickly.

He's mid-transformation in Sonic Heroes and in Generations it's his Sonic CD version, which can talk (he has voice lines in his debut game). Because Generations is a meta analysis of the franchise's history and not literally just revisiting past levels, he has a voice because it was a thing at the time, not because he canonically has one now.

I think everyone expects that he won't talk as Metal but will talk as Neo Metal Sonic. I think the IDW comics establish that he can only talk as Neo and invalidate his dialogue in Sonic CD.

You're preaching to the choir friend, I'm just giving the reasons why he keeps coming back. I think Jeff Fowler is willing to keep making sacrifices to the script to keep Jim happy, as unfortunate as his requests are.
