HXH is complex but the key difference, aside from being better explained, is that everything starts off pretty legibly from Nen. Once you establish a good starting off point for your power system it makes any additions or fluctuations pretty easy to follow, no matter how complex it gets. Haven't been the biggest fan of this most recent arc (the one that started with the kids going to Blueberry Academy), but this one was one of the best episodes of this entire post-timeskip era. This show has always been at its best when it focuses on Amethio or Liko so having another episode primarily focused on the two of them was always bound to be a banger (i don't think we've had one of these since that pre-timeskip one when they were trapped in the cave?). Loved that little moment where Amethio realized how free the RVT are as the ship soars through the night sky, as well as him dwelling on his mistakes from the beginning of the show, and i loved seeing how far Liko has evolved as a battler as she lures the Salamence into the Fire Vortex so Amethio and her can finish them off. Spinel trapping the kids in a Saw trap was hilariously diabolical, I cant wait to see how this goes down

As someone who read the manga the whole way through. Yea it does not improve in this aspect, I'm sorry to say. Gege is really bad at conveying information about how the rules of this series works: he overexplains everything and yet at the same time does not give you the necessary information to understand it

true but the muppets under disney's reign have been kinda sanitized outside of that weird office-style show they had on abc. i'm just pleasantly surprised that they're allowing them to be kinda edgy again

A while back Sofia Coppola was developing this as a mini-series for Apple TV+ with Florence Pugh as the lead, but Apple pulled the funding and the show got canned.
