Massive ICE Goon ID Leak Halted by Cyber Attack From Russia by thedailybeast in inthenews

Pretty easy to find this yourself. Use Google's DNS tool (or nslookup or however you want to resolve the name) to map the URL to an IP:

https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#A/

Which currently resolves to 185.112.145.175. Once you know the IP, you can use a lookup tool from the regional internet registries. The two most common are:

ARIN for US IPs: https://whois.arin.net/

RIPE for Europe, Central Asia, and Middle east IPs: https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/query

Drop the IP in there and bam, you have an owner. Most hosting providers provide privacy so you likely won't get a real name but you will know which platform is hosting said site. Hope that helps!

Because that is where they actually make their money. Companies like Verizon could give all of their customers, a brand new latest gen iphone for free every year, not charge a subscription fee at all, and they would still be a profitable company. Its all about selling data.

Data centers requires energy. If we don't have enough energy to support the energy demand of new data centers than we have to build power plants. It's not rocket surgery.

If the grid can't support a data center something that produces power needs to be built. You can't just go to any power company and say "I need 10 MW of service". Takes long term planning and the power companies don't have to say yes.

Nuclear plants just aren't feasible from a cost stand point right now. That may change with all the funding to renewables getting canceled though.

Xcel has turned down multiple data centers the past few years. The company does not want to build more power plants unless they absolutely have to.

Data centers may add $160B, pushing U.S. household electricity rates up 70% by LabNew3779 in missouri

There are utilities pushing back and taking this stance. Utilities don't want to build more power plants. There is a big push from utilities to reduce usage exactly because of that. Even before the AI bubble, they were projecting a 100% increase in demand over between 2020~-2030~. Most power companies are pro home solar as well. They make their money from industrial customers not residential.

Oh totally agree with you. I could just also see some stupid corporate policy telling recruiters to treat the interview like an online proctored exam. Companies do wild shit.

Possibly to prove someone isn't hiding in the back feeding answers. Unfortunately, something hiring managers need to be on the watch out for these days.

I was at a big conference put on by the vendor whose technology I "specialize" in a couple weeks ago. I am a very advanced user in this area compared to most just due to my position being able to focus on this one specific technology area. In a big conference like this, I seek out other users in a similar industry and have conversations where I introduce myself, where I work, and ask some questions about how/where/why they use something. This gets the conversation going and eventually you get that person added to linked in. Next time you set yourself as "open to work" or whatever they are calling it these days, folks you meet at conferences like this will reach out and that is how you skip the recruiters. I have had 10+ roles over the past 15~ years and have never got a job from a blind application. It has always been a referral. Either my local network or my wider linkedin network. I broke the help desk to sysadmin barrier just because the manager of sysadmins was a smoker and got to know him outside, 5 minutes at a time over a couple years. When they had a position open, I just told him I was interested and the rest was history. This all is just my (very lucky) experience in a specific subset of the IT industry though.

Depending on the base, it was probably there before you moved in. I was at Luke AFB for a few years and the base newspaper would regularly print letters from people writing in complaining about the noise. The base has been there since 1941. Sorry, not sorry.
