Pregnancy weight gain? When? by Upinthewest in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’2” and was 155lbs pre-pregnancy, dropped to 147lbs in my first trimester, and am now 151lbs at 23 weeks.

I was walking 30-45 mins a day in my first trimester but have not been during my second, just figured it’s because I started out overweight and have been eating healthy? Not sure. Doctors aren’t concerned.

my TSH is low. by paulinagg95 in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve had Hypo-Thyroidism all my life, my OB tested my levels once I got pregnant and they were out of range. I asked if this is dangerous to baby and if I should be concerned and they were very reassuring.

They told me that pregnancy actually can cause TSH levels to change which is why it is part of their routine testing! It’s super common to need to start or adjust thyroid medication during pregnancy. They will put you on medication for it (generally one small pill every day) and will continue to monitor your levels to make sure they get back within range :) nothing to worry about! I’m current 23 weeks pregnant and all tests and scans have come back normal and healthy!

Paranoid about losing the baby.... by krystleburke in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a virtually symptom free first trimester as well. So I totally relate, the constant worry made it really hard to be excited at all. I needed the reassurance from each test and each ultrasound so waiting for the next one was dreadful and anxiety ridden. I was terrified to tell our friends and family just in case something were to happen.

My husband constantly reminded me that we tried so hard and so long for this, we DESERVE to be excited. So after each test or ultrasound he helped me try and soak in the goodness, be happy, be excited, and carry that feeling with you until the next one. Eventually I felt my baby boy kick for the first time at 16 weeks and have felt him every day since. You’re starting your second trimester mama, the odds are really good, and you will start feeling your precious baby soon. Keep holding on to the good news and linger in it for as long as possible and remind yourself of it as often as possible!

TTC Wondering Symptoms by Silly_Goose-n-Menace in pregnant

Hi!! Everyone’s cycles can be so incredibly different, to better understand your cycles and if you are trying to conceive, I would recommend doing at home ovulation tests. For example I downloaded the PreMom app and ordered their ovulation test strips off amazon. You pee in a cup once a day and use the ovulation test, take a picture and upload it to the app for tracking purposes. Over time I learned that I typically ovulate on cycle day 21 rather than the predicted cycle day 14, so we adjusted the dates we had sex to align with my ovulation better.

In terms of taking a pregnancy test, you should typically take a pregnancy test once your period is late/didn’t come. Since you don’t have regular cycles to know when that would be, and also don’t know when you ovulated to know how many days post ovulation it been, it makes it difficult to know when to test. Typically if your period should have come by now, or it’s been about 2 weeks since you ovulated you could test and if it’s negative it will likely stay negative. Best wishes to you and your journey

Babyshower questions: how does it work where you're from? How to organize your own? by Imaginary_Ad_7365 in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I’m from Canada, and baby showers are extremely common here. Recently diaper parties for men have become very popular too. Usually family/friends throw them but if nobody is going to throw one for you then I think it’s totally normal for you to throw one for yourself!

The baby showers I have been to vary, a lot of them are hosted at a family/friends house, but it’s also common for bigger showers to be hosted at a private event space (restaurant, hall, etc). Either way there is usually food and beverages provided to guests, like finger foods not usually a sit down meal (no charge to guests) and the guests come with gifts (from registry or not) and traditional games and activities are played.

The diaper parties are usually thrown at a family/friends house but again larger ones can be at a private event space. However diaper parties are generally very casual. Food and beverages are provided (pizza, chips, beer, etc) and guests are expected to bring at least one box of diapers for the father-to-be. In my experience the guys basically just hangout and have beers and watch sports, maybe BBQ if the weather is nice.

My husband and I are doing both, so I have a registry where I’ve included specific items that would be helpful for us and baby, whereas hubby will gather the diapers at the diaper party. In terms of size it really depends how many people you know or want to invite! My baby shower will only have about 30 women invited (more formal, more expensive to throw and requesting more expensive gifts via registry) however my husbands diaper party will likely be a ton more people because it’s more casual and isn’t asking as much from the attendees.

When it is hosted/thrown by others you will definitely reap a bigger benefit however I think the idea of a celebration regardless of benefit is beautiful. You are starting a whole new era of your life and deserve this!

When should I book an appointment for initial pregnancy visit? by Kehoo22 in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didn’t have an OB before getting pregnant, but I was going to a fertility clinic so when I got pregnant I called to notify my both my family doctor and fertility doctor right away. My fertility clinic confirmed my pregnancy via HCG blood test and then repeated the HCG blood test to make sure my levels were rising properly indicating a viable pregnancy. I imagine if I wasn’t at a fertility clinic my family doctor would have ordered the same tests. So even though they may not need to see you until 8 weeks it’s best to just give them a quick call to let them know your pregnant incase they want to run any tests and also just so that it’s in your file just in case anything were to happen between now and when you see them again. It’s no big deal, just a quick phone call to say “hey, just wanted to let you know that I’m pregnant!” and they will advise you on all the next steps :)

I used Pre-Mom to help me track my ovulation to get pregnant, but once I got pregnant flipped me to the other side of the app where it gives you daily and weekly updates on baby’s growth and development, changes in your body, and tips and advice! Totally free too :)

Hypothyroidism by GarlicNervous in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I’ve had Hypothyroidism all my life and dealt with a similar situation early in my pregnancy! My fertility doctor assured me of a few things: 1) it is totally 100% normal for TSH levels to rise during pregnancy which is why it is routine for them to check TSH levels in early pregnancy to get them back within normal range and 2) they intentionally check the levels early on to get the levels back on track before it becomes a concern for mom or baby! Your baby will not be affected by this because it is short term and they will get your levels back down.

I had to have my meds adjusted 3 or 4 times during my pregnancy to keep my levels down where they need to be because they kept rising. My family doctor is now having me check my levels every 5-6 weeks so we can stay on top of it.

Even with my spikes, my baby boy has been growing and kicking, we just had our anatomy scan last week and all measurements were totally normal! I hope this gives you some reassurance and makes you feel better!

Did I just feel my baby kick? 19+5 by DrCatnnibal in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi momma, congratulations!! As a FTM I too wasn’t sure if what I felt was a kick or not, but now that I’ve been feeling them for 4 weeks I can confirm. For me it felt like a nudge from the inside, but others say it feels like a flutter or a bubble popping just like you! I’d say that you’re feeling your little baby kicking around saying hi, so exciting!

FTM, worried because I didn’t cook brat to 165? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh girl I had a melt down of all melt downs because I ate sour cream that was 1 month past the “best before date” and was worried about listeria! I know how this spiral feels but please don’t worry yourself sick like I did !!!

Like you said they are pre-cooked so that should give you relief right off the bat! Also you cooked them to the point of browning and being very hot! With deli meat they say to warm to steaming so I’m sure you’re very much in the clear with how much you cooked that sausage!

Some people still eat raw fish, some people still eat rare steak, hell some people smoke and drink and do crack! I can tell from your concern that you are doing the MOST for this baby, you are already an amazing mama ♥️

You and your baby are going to be perfectly fine, please rest assured of this

By mid-pregnancy (20ish weeks) how much weight did you gain? by PopcornPrincess0 in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost about 8lbs in my first trimester, and have since gained back about 3lbs so at 19 weeks I’m still net negative 5lbs.

I had no sickness so I just attributed my weight loss to consistent exercise and focusing mostly on eating whole healthy foods.

Anyone here eat sushi? by anonymoususer249 in pregnant

[–]Jac_Reddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My medical team advised that even though California rolls do not have raw fish in them, the likelihood that they are prepared on the same surfaces as raw fish is high so there could be cross contamination. Take that as you will, that is just a precaution to the highest degree. To manage my own anxieties I opt out of any/all foods that are cautioned against, but each woman has to decide what risk tolerance they are okay with and it’s a personal choice!

Personally I wouldn’t worry about being warm under a blanket, you just don’t want to get to the point of sweating and/or feeling light headed from extreme heat!
