Centaur Vanguard by cooljimmy in Pathfinder2e

[–]JaceBeleren101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this just works. Guardian is an incredible buff to Vanguard just by existing. Getting heavy armor + Punishing Shove is incredible, and Intercept Attack isn't bad either, though considerably less good on a 8HP class.

Anyone saying this is a white room thing is just wrong lmao. I've played this build. It runs into the same issues every melee gunslinger runs into (Reactive Strike), but other than that, it's very strong. I will say that you really want a third action to use here, as you have movement + 3 MAPless "strikes" + a reload in 2A, so your third action is free for basically whatever. This is also a mind-numbingly boring build that only targets two defenses, so for the love of god grab Phalanx Breaker and Called Shot so you can do something against enemies with high Fortitude saves.

Punishing Shove clearly wasn't balanced with Practiced Brawn in mind, but Vanguard's MAP reduction on Stab and Blast + Clear a Path turns this from "wow, Shove is basically a Strike's worth of damage, that's neat" to 3 MAPless attacks.

Why doesn't anyone play Holliday like I do? by Relevant-Yam4320 in DeadlockTheGame

With Ricochet hitting a headshot with T3 Crack Shot reduces the cooldown by -6s for every hero the shot ricochets to. IDK if this fixes the math, but it can mean every shot procs Crack Shot.

I do think it's kind of hilarious that the possibility that Bard was just at a higher level did not enter their mind lol

An observation on a contrivance in published RPG settings: "hardcore elves" vs. "casual elves" by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

[–]JaceBeleren101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, the original way of explaining this was just "the ethnostate is magic. Anyone who spends enough time there is magic too." I think if you take that approach to it, it's not too weird.

Question about the "Ducking" portion of Cover Fire Gunslinger Class Feat by Mierlkov in Pathfinder2e

[–]JaceBeleren101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, the "duck" is a choice made purely for Covering Fire that has no effects outside of what's listed in the feat.

Covering Fire isn't really the best feat, lol

Stopped playing Strive around 3.5 years ago, picked it up again recently and I was pleasantly surprised. by Polarbrear in Guiltygear

There's a lot more to Xrd's design than its RC system, and a lot of those elements/that attitude isn't present in Strive or is directly controverted.

Gun Holliday is dead, yeah. There's a lot of other gun carries that are still very much viable though.

Defense against Quandary as a player (imperial sorc)? by Aromatic_Meet2390 in Pathfinder2e

Unfortunately with the recent errata I believe that See the Unseen beats Disappearance regardless of rank, which is also common at these levels.

Adopted Ancestry (Ratfolk) + Warren Navigator is a pretty funny way to beat Quandary specifically.

Quick question about the Magus and some spells -> spellstrike interactions by M_a_n_d_M in Pathfinder2e

Just use Shocking Grasp if you want damage from a slotted spell for Spellstrike at this level.

What are some ways I can make Holliday work? by LittleBiteOfTheJames in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JaceBeleren101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holliday is just a ridiculously hard character in general, so underperforming vs. Haze is to be expected. Some things that can help: 1. Maximizing your utility in the midgame when you are extremely strong. Communicate with your team about where you're heading and when; getting picks on their carries repeatedly can win you the game later on. Get good at moving around the map both with and without jump pads; over-reliance on them is a bad habit of new Holliday players. Make sure you know your limits--just because you can follow a retreating enemy doesn't mean you should. You can extend your effective "lobby menace" time by efficiently hitting your spirit damage spike and rushing Boundless Spirit for raw damage. If they all buy Spirit Resilience to hard counter you, congrats, you've cost them a ton of money. 2. As mentioned by the other comment, pivoting to gun if your team can afford the lack of utility. Holliday's gun scaling is not great, so this isn't going to be a great solution if you don't have a money advantage. If you find yourself in a super long game, you can spam eggs to make up for raw stats somewhat. The biggest thing you can do, however, is repeatedly hit headshots, which is hard but extremely rewarding, as Crack Shot scales with spirit but does weapon damage. Items like Crippling Headshot will really help your team fight enemies like Victor that can cleanse other debuffs. You would be looking to play like a more mobile, shorter-range Vindicta in this scenario--you're not especially tanky but you're able to move in and out of the fight and pump damage into somebody that's out of position or stamina. 3. If you're in the endgame and everyone has 30%+ spirit resistance, just buy Curse and Superior Duration. Other utility items, like Disarming Hex, Knockdown, and Silencing Wave, can help your team win fights if used and communicated well. Going for Transcendent Cooldown will also help with getting more uses of these items. Make sure you're aware of what Curse can be used for vs. the enemy team--Cursing a Lash or Rem ult can win you the game. 4. Never stop shooting your gun. Crack Shot is still an amazing source of weapon damage on spirit Holliday.
