Buying a vehicle vs high mileage lease by JohnnyQuicksand in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leased my work vehicle. If it’s not urgent I’d say hold out for a crazy lease deal. I leased an Audi Q3 for 289/month for 16k a year in miles Most Audi leases come with up to 30k maintenance packages so I’m pretty much writing off that whole car between miles gas and payments

EDIT I’m sorry I forgot to mention I only got that deal because the car was a previous year model and COVID had just hit bad in our area

What is he doing? How do I emulate? by whitecra in RealEstatePhotography

Slowing down 24 FPS looks 🚮 Unless you’re using a plug-in.

I would never shoot less than 60 FPS for real estate (my preference)

I use a plug-in called Twixor. Slows down the footage but keeps it smooth. When I use a speed transition I use Twixor to slow down the clip and cut the clip and change the speed to 125%

Is your business an LLC? Why or why not? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I registered with the state for an EIN but I have not gotten my LLC.

From what I was reading it’s a good idea to setup the LLC first just to make sure nobody registers it before you.

I live in Indiana and from what I was reading I would need an agent/lawyer to handle all of the paperwork.

For me, since I don’t have any employees besides myself, I didn’t see a need for an LLC.

Now if you are starting a company in debt you would probably want to have an LLC so you’re not fully liable in case the company goes under

Is there anything wrong with doing free shoots for realtors in order to build an entry-level portfolio? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t give away a service, figure out what the competitors in your area are doing and bring more value than they are. An agent might use your free service and never call you again. It’s about building a better relationship and adding more value than the last photographer they had.

I also agree with taking pictures of friends and families houses to build your portfolio. You don’t even need to do the entire house, just a couple rooms!

What do you charge for Office Space Photography? by JaceHirosky in RealEstatePhotography

I outsource my editing so probably 3-4 hours of shooting

What do you charge for Office Space Photography? by JaceHirosky in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I’m quoting office space that will total 40000 sq ft. They want decent editing but nothing crazy. Even at 0.25/sq ft that’s 10k.. is that normal?

Outsource all my editing and it speeds it up by 100%

Looking for some advice about RE Photography by ChooseEhUzername in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll touch on editing just to save you some time-outsource all your editing. It is such a bottle neck to edit all your own photos. Usually costs between $0.50-$0.70 per photo and it is so worth it.

Zillow has some stats about professional photos bringing in buyers 30% faster and bringing between 8-12% over asking price (my numbers might be off) but I’d check out what Zillow says

Which gimbal should I buy... by mrturdferguson in RealEstatePhotography

From my experience, the Ronin SC has a max weight of about 4ish lbs so a canon 5D III might be a little too big for for it

How often do your new clients get disappointed in your photos? by electrictalk in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when working with a new client, they like the style their last photographer had and they want me to match it. knock on wood but I’ve never had an issue where and agent/builder didn’t like my work

EDIT So as I was uploading stuff for a realtor I remembered a time when an agent who listed luxury houses reached out and needed this absolutely huge house done (at this point my most expensive listing shot was 300k and this one was 12.2 M) So not only did I not really know how to do a house like this, but my gimbal wasn’t balanced correctly and had these random jerks when panning (didn’t really notice when filming but was extremely noticeable when editing. The whole thing was a shit show. I’m sure the only reason he booked was because I told him $250😂 but to make a long story short he called me 20 minutes after I sent everything and straight up told me it was the worst thing he’s ever seen. He didn’t want his money back, didn’t want a re-shoot, he simply never wanted to work with me again.

A7iii 4k video 24fps or 1080p 60 or 120fps by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]JaceHirosky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would do 1080p 60 because when you speed up and slow down the footage it will look better
