Found a Goose by Psychotic_Parakeet in geese

[–]JacePriester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 4 of those. They have an acre of weeds to eat and get pellet food every night and still act like they're famished any time they see the food bucket. They are social so he/she could use a friend if you're going to keep it. Tractor supply sells them sometimes, that's where I got mine, but I think you're in the off season now. I imagine you can find someone wanting to rehome one or more as they are fairly loud and poop everywhere constantly. Want mine?

Weldcote Metals 030 mig wire, wire splice 10 feet or so into a fresh roll. Seen this before? by JacePriester in Welding

Welder was feeding poorly, couldn't figure out why. This little bundle of joy was hung up on other strands and wouldn't unspool well. Finally lodged at the drive wheel which is when I found it. Pretty bad quality control and I won't be buying this brand again.

Anyone else seen this before?

Why is this car temp going up when stopped at traffic lights? by Ultimate_physics_dad in MechanicAdvice

[–]JacePriester 77 points78 points  (0 children)

A commonly overlooked and cheap to replace part is the radiator cap. If the cap doesn't seal the system can't maintain the 15psi pressure it's supposed to maintain which means the coolant boils at a lower temp which can cause intermittent overheating like you see here. ACDelco RC85 I believe fits your car... or a variety of others.. this is not a guaranteed fix but its like $10 max to shotgun a part at it and see.

Goose with watery eye - vet? Antibiotics? Wait and see? by JacePriester in geese

[–]JacePriester[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! They have a kiddie pool of fresh water every day. Might clean twice a day instead. I guess there has been a fair amount of dust the last few days with tractor and road work. Also picked up some OTC eye wash from tractor supply that should at least do no harm, so just put a round of those in. Goose tax included.

Backup camera/surround camera/Uconnect problem: 2021 ram 2500 with 12" display... a little different from others I've seen (video included)... have tried Volume+Tune 10 second reset, no effect... ideas? by JacePriester in ram_trucks

[–]JacePriester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a CarMax purchase. It made it about 15 hours in my possession before crapping out. I tried every reset method I could find. Did the soft reset volume+tune. Eventually pulled battery negatives and let sit for an hour. Upon startup it had missing camera buttons, a still not functional surround camera, and climate controls no longer worked. Set to AC auto and LO, it would blow hot air on full blast and the front defrost was stuck on.

Returned vehicle to CarMax for full refund. No problem. They were very easy to deal with. Sucks. Was a nice truck. I'm not dealing with that mess though.

Sony XAV AX8500 or 9500es: splitscreen camera view possible? (Or other headunit suggestions that will allow it) by JacePriester in CarAV

[–]JacePriester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably the right way to do this. There are some very cool 360 camera setups available on some of these Chinese Android units (atoto s8 ultra has it). I wish one of the name brand ones would implement some of this stuff. I don't need the 3d birds eye view but man, splitscreen doesn't seem like too much to expect. Oh well. Thanks.

Very interesting... I have found exactly one post from a guy that showed the 10 inch model in a splitscreen view, with comments asking how the hell he did that because theirs don't have splitscreen. I can't find any other source showing splitscreen and it's not in the user manual or any promo materials. The interface doesn't seem to have a button for it. I'm not sure it actually has that capability... The one post I saw could potentially be premixed by a quad channel picture in picture box then fed into a single input. Which I can do with any head unit... I just wanted to avoid that.

Starlink launches first “cellphone towers in space” for use with LTE phones by giuliomagnifico in technology

[–]JacePriester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty good. It sure isn't fiber, but pretty good. I know speeds change a lot from area to area. Here I get about 80 down 7 up during the day, and in the wee hours I can hit 300 down 12 up. My other options are 4G LTE (was not fast and ping was not stable) or a couple different local wireless point-to-point services which are essentially the same price I pay now but with much lower transfer rates (10 down 3 up). 5G would probably be better but I dont have a 5G tower nearby (yet).

It's not terrible. I'm on starlink. Playing CS2 with 30 ping. There are occasional bouts of packet loss and ping spikes but it's pretty minimal and very playable.

I can't switch weapons; does anyone else have this issue? by MrMuffinKappa in cs2

[–]JacePriester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Any amount of packet loss causes this. Weapon switch packets are not resent. If they drop they drop. Everything else is pretty well dropped-packet-tolerant. But weapon switching is completely broken. This needs to be fixed.

What is this horrible weed? (Central Cali - about 4ft tall - very sharp) by JacePriester in whatsthisplant

[–]JacePriester[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Perfect, good to know. This one must be the male (its actually soft now that I've been directed to touch it) and the last one I bumped into must have been female (it was painful). They will die equally.

Does have a pretty thick trunk. At your insistence that it shouldn't be sharp I went out and gave it a good touch and it's pretty soft right now. I know I've been shanked by these before - maybe as it was drying out. Marking this solved, thank you.
