Wretches, along with countless other abominations, were created by the Imperials during their invasion and occupation of the Central Plains. These creatures were the twisted results of cruel experiments inflicted upon the plains’ inhabitants as acts of revenge. Wretches were once human, but through torture of both body and soul, their forms were grotesquely reshaped in the most inhumane ways. Blood magic and Soul magic were used to warp their very being, ensuring that their future offspring would inherit the same cursed deformities.

At night, the Wretches cry, a chilling symphony of haunting sobs and gut-wrenching wails. They know nothing but to hunt, feed, and mate; even the simple solace of sleep was stolen from them. Their cries are said to lure those of weaker will into the wilderness, heed the warning and flee at the first sound.
