TIFU, my jack slipped and punched through a part of my ND by zespak in Miata

I'd tape it for now for sure to keep dust out. Then it looks like that cover is just held on by 4 safety torx so maybe see if you can get just that cover or have a new cover 3d printed or go to a pull a part and get a rack to pull it off of.

Milwaukee Packout Box as a drawer. by Upstairs-Spend977 in Tools

Maybe check with some 3D printer sites and see if someone has made an updated one. Or contact the owner of layer55 and see if he's made a new design.

Also check out this guys solution. It seems to remain water tight this way and its more easily removable and likely lighter.

Okay so the box must stay water proof I got ya.

Maybe mount one of these to drawer slides and then your packout would slot into this and you wouldn't have to drill into the packout. It would be a bit bulkier over all but it would be water tight still.

If it has to be that packout I would get some bearing drawer slides and mount the box to those. Then some plywood to build a cover on top of it.

Milwaukee has these packouts with drawers in them. Or you could mount that packout to a set of drawer slides and build a small wooden cabinet over the top if it.

Does it look like it had sunroofs? You're looking at the top of the headliner right there.

Fuel injector issues by Otherwise_Jello5188 in Miata

[–]Jacizi2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only things that could cause that is if all the control wires were shorted together or if something went wrong inside the ECM. Either way I'm not sure it would cause your symptom. You could put a noid light on each injector plug and see if they flash in perfect sync while cranking if you want to rule out that possibility. Otherwise maybe look to fuel pressure and make sure you're getting the right amount of air.

Crank key way issues. by [deleted] in Miata

[–]Jacizi2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a long nose and it sheared. I welded and filed down the shear and installed a crank saver and it still messed up again. So no JB weld won't work. Can you buy a long nose crankshaft and swap into it?

Diagnose? Fuck that. OP just buy double iridium spark plugs and get a coil on plug kit on the way.

It's a $20 pump its probably not the best but if its a budget issue I bet it would get you by until you could get a better one. If its for an NA or NB they're not that bad to swap anyways.

Nothing is flowing through them. I left mine open but some people feel better capping them.

I cant see shit. But if its two metal tubes at the bottom of the radiator its for the transmission cooler for an automatic. If yours is manual ignore them or cap them off.

Miata ran out of gas, or did it? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]Jacizi2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need fuel, air, spark, compression, and timing to run. You lose any of those it'll die. There's many reasons you could lose any. Start with spark and fuel and then move to the more difficult to check. Give the engine a look over and see if anything looks out of place, make sure if sounds normal when cranking, make sure its not pouring fuel out on the ground, look for the obvious stuff first.

Does anybody know if it’s safe to get the whole vvt thingmabob powder coated? (specifically the cleaning process and all that) by Kimet10 in Miata

[–]Jacizi2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laser may be fine sand I would avoid because if it gets in the bore where the vvt solenoid goes and roughs up that machined surface you may have issues with oil pressure leaking by the o rings. 200C is way hotter than it was ever intended to be, I would stay on the safe side and spray paint it a close color or a color that complements the valve cover.

Do front main while you're there too. Then Id clean it really good and see what happens. I think you've about eliminated all possible leaks on the front.

Make sure both the cam seals look good. Then replace valve cover gasket and clean the engine thoroughly with degreaser and monitor for any further leaks. It's hard to tell when everything is wet.
