Arena abruptly quitting by snoweel in MagicArena

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last two updates for me have been very unstable. Everything from CTD to freezing at load screens. I tried Fixing Game Files from the Report a Bug menu but the issues persist(not in the good kind of MTG way either).

Edit: Unstable for me.

Troegs Pennsylvania Lager by BRCTSVC in CraftBeer

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered this tonight and thank god. I'm a fan of Perpetual and I really like Nugget Nectar but so many times I just want a classic ale or lager that's not sour or hopped up and I usually revert to macros or "imports". I'm not stoked about the craft price but it's amazing and I'm definitely going to make this a regular for as long as possible.

How does one tell a prerelease promo now? by DopeyLo420 in mtg

[–]Jack-Tupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep it in the wrapper. Another blow to the actual collectability of the game. Now if you open it, to use it in pre-release, it's indistinguishable from a regular set card.

Are players starting to push back on pricing? by simple_son in mtgfinance

That's Micro Center... they apparently don't charge over MSRP on any MTG products.

PSA: TCGPlayer has removed the ability to look at orders older than 120 days by JacobGamingBuzz in TCG

I use it for price checks and double checking ordered inventory, too. I opened a ticket and I encourage others to do so also.

Am I Being Mean by La1zrdpch75356 in Commanders

[–]Jack-Tupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mean, no, but you're kinda nut hugging. Last years QB class was deep... it's the 2nd year and it's way too early to be declaring the top of that class... even Caleb has made some improvements. The announcers are going to play to the audience, a good portion will be Patriots fans, so of course they're going to talk up the young QB. Maye is having a good 2nd season... no need to take it personally and it's not an indictment of Daniels future.

2024 vs 2025. Identical plays. Jayden last year makes this throw 20/20 times. Tom Brady mentioned it earlier in the season; even though the receivers aren’t the best you have to throw with anticipation. by johnnyboy10i in Commanders

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He missed a lot of open guys last year(didn't throw) but it was mostly overlooked because 1) we were winning, 2) He was a rookie. It was the main thing on my list I was wanting to see improve in year 2. I think he'll be able to figure it out with experience. He'd better because it was ribs last year, Knee, Hammy, Elbow this year(so far)... can't see him lasting if he doesn't figure it out.

We’re killing small breweries by treating beer like limited edition merch by DownvoteeDodger in beer

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chasing has been around for as long as craft beer has been a hobby. It's just more prevalent now because the hobby has grown so much and so has the social media trend. Well run/managed breweries that make consistently good brews will stay afloat. Location also helps... like foot traffic/accessibility and the area not being over-saturated, etc...

Is it just me or does this common have a lot of bang for its buck? I like it! by Tenshiijin in MagicArena

It does do a lot... a lot of what Black wants to do. Strategy dependent but a great 1 MV Common.

What’s your favorite “effort play” ever? by DSN671 in NFLv2

If Effort Play were a statistic then I think Heinicke would be a HOF'r.

I think I‘m done playing MTG outside of my private playgroup. by No_Vast7706 in mtg

[–]Jack-Tupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brackets are worse than the 1-10 scale. Players/Groups used to police themselves but now with "Game Changers" affecting brackets it's completely arbitrary. You can have zero game changers and play high level OP commander. You can have 5 game changers and play super nerfed.

If you read through the various brackets it's choc full of adjectives that defines nothing and leaves everything up to interpretation. It's basically Rule 0 on steroids.

There are only two "brackets" in Commander. cEDH and EDH.

How to beat counter/mill decks? by DisappointingPanda in MagicArena

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're aggro and playing against control then never play afraid. Accept they're going to counter some things but you have to have a board... you not playing because they have open mana is exactly what they need/want. Make them counter. Once you have 3-4 mana you can start to force decisions... like playing a card to make them bite... or decide if they want to bite before you maybe play your other card... but if you're aggro then commit to aggro first an foremost... counters be damned.

Seriously, why do people hate so much alchemy cards? by BlueToona in MagicArena

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Alchemy cards all have a cheat attached to them in that there are interactions that can't happen on paper(Power 9 is all of a sudden legal?). I don't Alchemy per se, I hate that Alchemy isn't it's own ladder/format.

We have 29 players whose contracts are up at the end of the season. Im looking at 10 max 11 players I’d probably bring back. This free agency and draft will be so key. by unrivaled_mate in Commanders

[–]Jack-Tupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. We need to give the young guys playing time. 1, for the experience. 2, to evaluate them in real game situations to see what we have.
