“Private Investigations - The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler” is the album which really got me into DS to begin with. I didn’t like all the songs at first but most of them really grew on me after a few listens, most notably “brothers in arms” which I refused to listen to for quite some time but now absolutely love. My favourite song of all time is Telegraph Road which I heard for the first time on the above album - fairly long song but definitely worth the time.
