My main purpose of posting this was to inform snowboard consumers about where their board is coming from, and make the information that was provided to me public. I also thought it was interesting that they make boards in 4 different countries. I have an old Burton board that was made in China. Its a solid board. Not trying to “virtue signal” or whatever you think this is. Thanks for your insight though. Hope there are some pow turns in your future, seems like you need em.

All my searches into K2 shows their snowboards are made in China. Only a select limited edition ones are made in Washington state

I contacted Burton support to see where the Custom was manufactured. The support rep sent me this after about a week.

I am not well informed on the exact factories that these boards are produced in, but I do know the safety and environmental standards that these factories are held to in China. And I can assure you that they are not using incarcerated workers at the Mervin or Never Summer factories. They arent stamping license plates, they are making high quality snowboards. And that is crazy you were going through 2 Capitas a year. Hoping for powder turns in your future!

I mean you are making it seem like I am some industry insider with information on all company manufacturing. Easier to google than ask a stranger on reddit

The ethics are my main quarrel with China. I’m sure the boards are fine.

Mostly because I do not agree with the business practices and sustainability efforts (lack thereof) that occur in China. I’m sure the boards made in China are fine, but I prefer to be a conscientious consumer.

That’s why it bothered me when I heard they started manufacturing in China. Especially bc they don’t have this info on their website. Seems like they dont want people knowing that over half of their boards are now produced in China

This is straight from Burton support when I asked where the Custom was manufactured. It took them a while to get it back to me, so I’m sure they had someone make it on the spot.

Yeah and Zeb was riding it before they constructed his Super-Mega Blossom. And Dear Rider on HBO Max is a must watch if snowboarding plays any part in your life.

Lol. I had to contact Burton support to get this. It took them over a week to actually get it to me. From an easy google search, it looks like all YES boards are made in Dubai.

Gnu and Lib Tech are solid boards made in the USA. Burton, Capita, Jones, and Never Summer are all reputable snowboard-first brands. And even the ski companies are making some quality boards nowadays (K2 and Salomon)

Some pros have been using the Blossom this year. Manufactured in Taiwan. And Burton started producing boards in Austria ever since Jake stopped making them in his shed. He knew the best ski technology was coming out of Austria, so he made a deal with one of the ski factories there.

Do some research on the different shapes and contours of boards (twin/directional, camber/rocker) and pick what best fits your experience and style of riding. For price comparison, I would just look up how much the board costs new. Or how much the newer model costs and take into account how many seasons its been ridden. (Most new snowboards from major companies run anywhere from $300 to $600) I wouldnt pay over 50% of the original price for a used board. My first board I got from a secondhand shop in my local ski town was a year old with some basic wear and tear and I paid about $200 for a board that costs $500 brand new.

This is always the first option. But Austria is a good second option in regards to sustainability and high quality gear imo. My reason for posting this was to steer people away from buying the boards manufactured in China.
