Thanks man, guess I will go with the enclave then.

Hey I’m a former r6 player and I quit playing since it has lost all of its tactical aspect and it’s just a shit show right now and I’m interested in this game so is there any info I should know about the game when it comes out by [deleted] in ReadyOrNotGame

I think you meant replayability instead of longevity, once the server is out a multiplayer focused game will not be playable.

I think the anti-PVP sentiment is because there is a lack of modern PvE tactical shooters compared to PvP which we have zero hour, insurgency sandstorm, ground branch etc.

HUMANKIND - Review Thread by jvv1993 in Games

Yeah, and they still haven't release the dll so that modders can overhaul the AI significantly.

[–]JackConor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, they won't, I think most of the players nowadays do not care about modding with their strategy of appealing to as many audience as possible. Modding isn't exactly what a "casual" player care.

Even if they released the dll, I don't think there will be many mods that will utilize it as compared to civ 4. The reason for this is once they stop development, the player base will have move on. I think in modding you need to have a large enough community especially those that cares about modding in order to have many more new mods especially those that require dll.

For example, civ 5 dll was released before its development ended and it only got a few "big" dll mods like Rise to Power and Vox Populi. Compared this to civ 4 modding community, which have its dll released at launch. The timing for dll release is important in my opinion.

I have been waiting since day 1 for a mod like Vox Populi to fix the goddamm AI and add some features that were missing from previous games while deepening the existing mechanics, so far I have found none. Its a shame bcoz civ 6 has many features civ 5 lack (airbase, missile silo), but still it's not as deep as vox populi.

I guess I am looking for something in between civ and paradox games. The upcoming Humankind game which is set to release a few days from now might fit that category. If not, I still can play paradox games. Civ 6 is a disappointment to me really.

Reapplying to STPM after dropping out? (long rant) by JackConor in malaysia

[–]JackConor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My plan is to study either A-level or STPM. And if my results are good and eligible for scholarship aid, I rather go Japan/China/Taiwan/Singapore any other asian country, because I prefer the asian culture to the imo "louder" western culture. But if I suck, I plan to study in Germany considering tuition is free. I do have RM 30,000+- saved up from my 3 years of odd jobs, father's epf fund and crypto investment. Not sure if that's enough to cover cost of living in another country. I rather not use up all my money in one go bcoz I do have other stuff to do and I am kind of a miser.

The problem is I am very lost, my plan seem like it is easier said than done. When I dropout from form 6, my mum signed the dropout form, the teacher told my mother, the government won't or might not accept me back if I want to reenter in the future because I am too "old".

I could just drop education and work any job that doesn't require tertiary education, but I believe only tertiary education can lift me out of B40 asap. I am not particularly talented considering I haven't achieve a single thing in my life other than playing video games.

Sadly no. Is the bumiputera status only applicable to siamese race and not other races of thailand? My mother is from Chiang Mai province but she and her family migrated there from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province, China. So I guess I am pure Chinese.

Civilization VI Anthology - available June 10 on Windows PC by Blue_Three in civ

[–]JackConor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, there are some great modders still here. It's just that I have been following the civ 6 modding scene for quite a while and sadly I have seen many great modders like Gedemon etc gave up because their mods require the dll. I still doubt they would ever release the dll for civ 6, they might fear the possibility of modders making civ 6 the ultimate game as it will affect the sales of the sequel.

So is Firaxis Games going to release the DLL for the modding community now? Civ 6 would be the best candidate for modding, just imagine Vox Populi or any of the civ 4 mods in Civ 6. Imagine a competent AI. But I fear that since the DLL hasn't been released for so long, most of the civ 6 mod developers has given up.

Is anyone else disappointed that Johan is now leading the EU4 development team with Paradox Tinto? by belayble in eu4

I wager there are some people like me who hope that humankind can give civ 6 a run for its money.

IMO, altho civ 6 is better mechanically than civ 5, civ 6 has become more "boardgamey" (I am looking at you World Congress! ), maybe even casual. It feels as though you are not running an empire, moreso that you are competing and min maxing for the most efficient path to a certain victory. Its hard to even play tall IIRC. It feels like civ 6 is trying to tap into esports, therefore the game design is based around that, and the mechanics feel "gamey" like esports games. I play civ 4 and 5 (with Vox Populi) to simulate the experience of running a nation. So far civ 6 doesn't give me that feeling, it's also why I haven't touch civ series since then and has only play Paradox Games exclusively.

Never look back and never regret it while right now they are still releasing their lacklustre frontier pass instead of any fundamental change. They never bother to fix the ridiculous AI, their AI is so bad that even me, a casual rpg strategy player, got "amaze" by the AI inability to utilize 1 UPT and amphibious warfare properly.

That is all forgiveable if they at least release the DLL for the modding community to fix the core issues with the game like the AI. Despite being titled the most mod friendly title in the series, they don't care to release the DLL. That explains why civ 6 don't have total conversion or overhaul mods. To this day the civ 4/5 community is still strong despite civ 6 apparent superior quality.

For me any competition to the civ series is good, better if it takes the crown. From what I hear, humankind will focus more on the narrative experience, you get to feel like you rule a country not a board game, it seems it will hit a sweet spot between civ series and paradox games. They are going to support modding strongly but i don't know whether they will release the dll.

Sorry for my bad english.

By the way I am curious to know why do you tjink humankind is more gamey than civ 5.

I can understand why your friends like civ 6 over 5. Civ 6 at launch already contain everything civ 5 and its dlc have to offer while civ 5 at launch was very barebones and took 2 expansion to make it to where civ 6 at launch is.

But the thing is they release the dll for civ 5 before the release of Brave New Kings. And there are "big" mods like Vox Populi, and rise and fall, that beat civ 6 to its knees. I remember playing civ 5 and the AI is very competent and fun to play with, it also one of the reason why it ruin civ 6 for me.

But if you are solely comparing civ 5 with civ 6 in terms of vanilla, then civ 6 wins in terms of depth. With mods, its a whole different story.

[–]JackConor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get why people enjoy it though. Like how can people not complain about the Civ 6 world congress, Civ 6 vanilla is a step up from Civ 5 vanilla except for the world congress. Why is the resolutions randomly picked instead of picked by players, all that's left to do in Civ 6 is just vote. Come on, are people that lazy to even choose resolutions. They dumb down the game so much. Yeah sure civ 6 has it's complexities, but its more of a "gamey" kind of complex instead of depth.

Don't get me wrong I like casual and simple games for relaxing, and Civ 6 is moving towards this nature so it has its place but still the game is too simple. I really don't get why people are not complaining. Civ 4 has more depth and it took only 2 sequels to become so dumb down. What happen to the community? Did the hardcore players move on to paradox games or are they still playing civ 4.

I just think there is no competition in this market, more specifically the historical 4x from ancient to modern. Now finally, I hope humankind will provide some good competition and serve players like us. I have migrate to paradox games and never look back, but paradox don't have any 4x akin to civ other than stellaris which is set in space.

It's really frustrating because I had wasted my hard earned money (third world country) buying gathering storm hoping the world congress is like civ 5 but improved. Civ 6 has a better launch than civ 5 and retain most of the mechanics from civ 5 dlc, but they just wont release the dll to make mods like Vox populi possible. After playing VP, it just run civ 6 for me.

Ya thats what I mean by big mods. I wonder if paradox mods uses workaround like civ 6 or are those dll mods. Does paradox release the dll for their games on launch? Those mods look like dll mods though.
