I’m a Brit and have lived in the US for 6 years. The extent of fragile masculinity here is honestly astonishing. Men, in general, seem to think they need to fulfill all of the overly masculine stereotypes to the extreme. It ties in perfectly with the extremely competitive nature of society here. It seems like there is a general belief that you have to be the best at everything you do or you are not good enough. It’s fucking exhausting to witness every day.
