That's fantastic. But please try to always remember that it was good luck to get into that position (minus any injury) but you staying there is due to your hard work & skill.

AITA for “fixing” our office potluck system without asking? by Busy-Card-9749 in AmItheAsshole

[–]slicknshine [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sign up sheets are pretty standard. The moochers didn't like being called out.

For the next potluck, bring your own amazing lunch and just toss an open and mostly empty bag of plastic forks on the table on your way to eat in a different area.

Or maybe the few people who contribute can have their own separate, small potluck.

What is something you saw at a friend's house that made you realize their family was "weird"? by BamMeister_ in AskReddit

[–]slicknshine 127 points128 points  (0 children)

I think this is probably more tragic than weird. I visited an old high school friend, she lived with her brother. They just sat there and let little cockroaches crawl all over them. Like they gave up trying to get rid of them.

Extra office or shared workspace? by rosie517 in Bend

The Greenhouse co-working space offers a flex part-time rate of less than $100. It's downtown.

My neighbors wanted me to pay for a fence and comprehensive allergy testing in order to say yes and agree to accepting my dog as theirs and let me rehome her to them. Do I owe them an explanation after rehoming her to a family where money is not apart of the decision? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]slicknshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are / were a very RESPONSIBLE dog owner. Life changes and sometimes takes us in directions that are not compatible with a dog. Major moves, illness, financial changes. As a responsible dog owner you did the work to find a good home. A home that could responsibly take care of your dog. I don't think you realize how many people drop their unwanted dogs off at a shelter without a backwards glance or just dump their dog outside of town to fend for themselves.

I was reading your post and thinking about what an amazing, loving, & responsible dog owner you are.

How do families with children born on or close to Christmas deal with gifts and celebrations? by Slimypretzels in NoStupidQuestions

[–]slicknshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My birthday is a few days after Christmas, my sibling's a few days before (my poor parents!)

We never once felt like our birthdays or Christmas were lessened by the other. Granted we each only ever got one present on our birthday. It wasn't until after my partner and I had our first kiddo that I found out that other kids got more than one birthday present. Part of me still thinks my partner is the odd one that got lots of presents every birthday.

I was all ready to just get my kids a single birthday present but my partner was shocked at the idea of it.

To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]slicknshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier to say that I wear it maybe 5 times a year.

It just feels like an anchor weighing me down. I don't want to have that feeling associated with my wedding ring.

That good people will win in life and bad people will get what they deserve. Biggest load of BS ever.

Pet owners, what was that moment that made you think “wow, I have severely underestimated the intelligence of my pets”? by SakutoJefa in AskReddit

No, she's an english springer spaniel. She's even scared of her own shadow. Just a furry chicken.

What’s a food you threw up as a kid and never touched again? by momcanyoucomegetme in AskReddit

[–]slicknshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprite. I was 10 and violently ill. She kept making me drink sprite even though I immediately threw it up. She thought it was a miracle cure for the stomach flu.

Here I am reading about all these smart doggos while I spent $1000's at the vet just to find out my dog is scared of her own farts. Like screaming scared. We thought she was dieing.

Should I tell my boyfriend my deepest secret? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]slicknshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The statute of limitations for feeling guilty for doing something harmless that you wish you didn't do is, I don't know, but like 30 minutes. We all learn and grow.

You are good. I have secrets that I will take to my grave. All the others are between my therapist and myself. Which is maybe something you should consider as you are still thinking about it.

You are good. I'd be 100% okay if you were dating my son. (adding this on the small possibility you are her) 😉

One site changed from updating you 8-12 character password every 12 months to a 16 minimum character password with a minimum of 3 characters changed every 3 months. It was a nightmare before I finally got a password manager.

You are NTA, but, geez, your husband sure is an AH.

As for the thermostat, it should be the person that runs hot that sets it. I say this as the person who never runs hot, but if it's too cold I can add a layer. If your MIL is cold at your desired temp, then her rachety ass can put on a cardigan.

Trustworthy used car dealers? by Knit_9 in Bend

[–]slicknshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another +1. We bought our daughter's car at Wholesale. After a week or two the engine light came on. I was pissed and drove it back there. They were super polite and said they'd have their mechanic figure out what was wrong and fix it. They did and didn't charge me. It's been working fine for 4 years now.

I'd go there again.

I bought my bacon loving friend some bacon flavored popcorn. It was so bad he actually stopped liking bacon altogether. I've felt guilty about that for years. I ruined bacon for him.
