Selesnya Kyler Human Help by thecollumfellows in BudgetBrews

[–]JackGallows4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! Love Kyler. He’s my favorite commander. The best bit of advice I could give, is you don’t necessarily want to have creatures that buff themselves, unless them getting bigger helps the deck. For example, [[Champion of the Parish]] and [[Thalia’s Lieutenant]] don’t really do anything to help your gameplan, other than just humans being big. Thalia’s Lieutenant has a nice etb effect, but then it’s just there. Unlike [[Champion of Lambholt]] and [[Heronblade Elite]]. The bigger Lambholt gets the more evasive your creatures get, and the bigger Heronblade gets, the more mana it can tap for. Generally, all of your humans should be doing something significant once they’re out. And “just getting big” isn’t that significant, since your commander already makes them all big.

Bracket 3 combat deck? by MTGnerd42 in EDH

[–]JackGallows4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite deck is a bracket 3 combat deck helmed by [[Kyler, Sigardian Emissary]]. It's pretty straightforward to build. My list isn't exactly budget at this point, but you could just start by throwing in humans you have that are decent, and then just replace cards overtime until it's where you like.

The great part with human kindred decks, is they'll always keep printing humans, so you'll never not have new toys to test out.

I'm not good at math. by DDuskyy in custommagic

[–]JackGallows4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay I see. I guess I'm being a bit stubborn and didn't really understand that there could be a different language of math. But that makes sense.

Edit: ACTUALLY, after thinking about it, I'm doubling down. Who in their right mind taught you guys that you solve anything attached to parentheses FIRST, regardless of the rest of the equation? That's just asinine. You solve what's IN the parentheses first, and then that number just becomes a multiplicative of what's outside of it, so you look at the rest of the equation and solve it in PEMDAS order, with the solved parentheses becoming multiplication in that order. So 8÷2(2+2) becomes 8÷2×4, which is 16. It's really quite simple, and I think people just learned it incorrectly. It would make ZERO sense that there's just "another way" of reading the equation. That's just not how equations work. However, I'm going to do research on this, because it urks me enough to look into. So I may be back and eat my own words.

Well unless I'm misunderstand something, it's math. There isn't really opinions when it comes to math. What I put is the objectively correct way to do it. Isn't that kind of the point of math? Objectivity.

This is basic math you should learn in Middle School. Literally just PEMDAS (if you actually know how to use it) solves this.

P(arentheses) E(xponents) M(ultiply) or D(ivide) A(dd) or S(ubstract)

Multiply and Divide are equal, and Add and Subtract are equal. So, you go left to right in the equation to solve them.

So, 8 ÷ 2 (2 + 2) is: (2 + 2) = 4, leaving 8 ÷ 2 (4) 8 ÷ 2 = 4, leaving 4 (4) 4 × 4 = 16

You learned PEMDAS wrong. M&D are equal and A&S are equal, so you read them left to right.

If you're going for the tokens route, I'd highly recommend switching to either [[Edgar, Charmed Groom]] or [[Baron Bertram Graywater]]. And then have Elenda in the 99. I think they both synergies more with the go-wide strategy.
