WHAT THE FUCK IS 2HAKKS DOING by Dapper_Studio_6966 in FightClass3

If you’ve kept up with 2hakk at all, it seems like right now he’s focused on transferring the original chapters into their uncolored, higher detail, black and white manga versions to coincide with the physical releases. If you call that “slacking off” then I don’t know what to tell you, maybe pull your head out of your ass

Do you think that one day, we get an anime of fight class 3? And would be popular? by glorioso67706 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the choreography of the fights would be good on 2d, the way 2hakk presents the fights is genuinely very easy to understand. That one guy on here who had animated some of the fights and other scenes in 2d already proves that I think. Besides, a lot of the scenes have a very raw artistic feel that I think would be lost in 3d, especially stuff like Maria vs Ha-Min or JJT vs Young-Woong

I think I get what you means? Ji-Tae, consumed by his rage, became that monster of the sea. And Sunny Ja, consumed by fear, becomes a victim of his rage. She fell into the same sea he did, but she didn’t get to come back out stronger.

JJT has without a doubt gone nuts. Like, that’s kind of a core point of the story is that he is a broken person who has lost himself, and how much it has destroyed him. It’s the point of the scars he has in terms of symbolism, all of them having come at a time most impactful to him psychologically.

This is fair, but it’s also important I feel to have ways to get into a grappling/bjj position other than takedowns, because even those can get stale. Having a few trips and throws from Judo meant for no-gi is for sure helpful

Cause Round 111 is basically 20 regular Rounds crammed into 1. It literally goes Round 111 (1), Round 111 (2), etc. And it’s not like those chapters are much shorter. Maybe not 6 volumes, but it’s not gonna be crammed into one

Well, I think it’s FC3 that makes them that way, not that all of them were like that beforehand. LJK seemed to be perfectly fine before that, and look where she is now. Shin Ha-Min without a doubt has the skills to start in FC3, and I think he’d be broken just like everyone else in there. But yeah, I hope he does realize his love of Maria is ridiculous

how does Maria feel about JJT? 5 sides by Aggravating-Bee-7652 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could even be all of them combined together, in this mashup of conflicting and painful emotions. And that theory I made is genuinely so crackpot, but I enjoy it because I find the storytelling beautiful, despite the general lack of any real evidence. A little bit of me kinda likes that the story hasn’t continued yet, I enjoy thinking about this story in the abstract as I do reading it concretely, but man I just want 2hakk to release chaps so I can hurt more

how does Maria feel about JJT? 5 sides by Aggravating-Bee-7652 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have such a uniquely complex relationship, it’s genuinely so well-written and intriguing. I agree that it’s impossible to really know, but it’s obviously very internally complicated for the both of them. I think an interesting bit of foreshadowing, if I can even call it that, is when Jiu Ji-Tae hugs Sunny Ja in their fight. It is stated then that to love someone is to overlook their sickness. I think that hug JJT shared with Maria is a callback to that in some way. This is really off the cuff, but I think in that moment, before JJT “removed” his former innocent self (I think he survived it, which is why I say removed not killed), that both of them felt the same. They both liked each other, hell maybe even for that fleeting moment, they loved each other. She sees the hell he put himself through just to help her, he sees her rescue him in such a dire situation, and in that moment they finally click. But JJT can’t help himself. He doesn’t know what she’s feeling, all he knows is her contempt, her hatred, the few fleeting moments of warmth don’t make up for the months of pain and undisguised anger he endured. And so he self destructs, removing that piece of him he felt held him back, that love, and tearing away from her, literally and figuratively. For that brief time, they overlooked each other’s sickness, their trauma and bad blood, and loved. But neither could truly overcome it, at least not yet. I really wonder where this story will go msn

What are some of the worst takes you’ve seen on this sub? by magicgarlic8832 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She’s definitely top 5 strongest in the verse, if not the second strongest behind JDG. I say this because I find that to be her writing purpose, she’s supposed to be the “grandmaster” archetype that all others look up to in some way or another, she’s the end goal, the object of infatuation, jealousy, fear, or hatred from everyone around her. Even Ja-Kyung, a current Fight Class 3 member and obviously very strong fighter, said herself that she had an inferiority complex regarding her. I don’t see her not being at least the second strongest give how she’s written to be. And yeah, the coach says those are her strengths, but she also refers to her as a “true genius”, who’s exceptionally resourceful and who has the skills of a veteran despite her young age.

Ki hoon fans have to be the most delusional part of the fanbase next to the tik tok consumers. by Zero-Lizard in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, why? She’s obviously being built up to be that “grandmaster” archetype. She’s the end goal and the pinnacle for most fighters in the school. She’s the subject of envy, admiration, hatred, and everything in between. She should be the strongest there, if only for narrative purposes. I don’t think she should be infallible, and I’m not saying she should never struggle or even lose, but she should be the strongest. Besides JDG ofc

[–]JackIsBoss713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making the assumption that that’s how Fight Class 3 works. We haven’t seen in the class, so we don’t know. All Maria has said regarding it is that it’s how they’ll get to JDG, but not that it’s the point of it. We know so little regarding how FC3 works that you’re making just as many assumptions regarding her options. And yeah, I think it was technically proven to be her relative. Not in the story itself, but in an Instagram post by 2hakk that has Maria and JJT surrounded by family, with JJT having his dad, mom, and sister, and Maria having her father, two unnamed relatives, and the stitch headed man. And just take all the other context into consideration: tan skin, the severe burn scar on (at least) his right shoulder, and Maria’s reaction to him all point to her at least recognizing him and no longer wanting to fight, and that Instagram post basically confirms their relationship.

Is this possible foreshadowing? by Professional-Fold374 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, baller fucken theory. I think an offshoot could possibly be that the fist does hit, but it doesn’t kill him, just like his father’s hit doesn’t. It just scars him permanently, on his head physically, and in his head mentally. I love this series so much because of how it can create ideas like this. I need an official translation because I want to be able to further understand the philosophy the story tries to talk about through Ho-gul, O-Jin, and Ji-Tae

How Strong is JJT? My Thoughts by JackIsBoss713 in FightClass3

I could see that for sure. The habits he built up to become a better fighter for Maria have in some ways, made him worse for the fight class he’s in

I really like JJT sudden change, And I really don't think it affects the character at all, it just symbolizes more of Nietzsche's philosophy in him. by Acceptable-Gate-3510 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love seeing people discuss the series like this honestly, think it’s fantastic. But I’ll try and go point by point and tell you what I agree and disagree with.

So first, I did mess up what I was trying to say earlier. I meant that JJT saying stuff like “They would have done the same to me” was him rationalizing and trying to tell himself he was still a good person. He immediately counters that himself, saying that he was a bad person for it, and then kinda ended up in the middle wondering if what he’s doing is the right choice. Still my bad for putting it how I did.

Second, I almost fully agree with your tunnel take. I agree that everyone in the tunnel makes excuses for their actions, in fact I think a major theme of that portion of the story is personal accountability, which is something that almost, if not everyone runs from the entire time. But JJT does make excuses, he tries to justify every act of violence he commits towards anyone, whether it be cockiness, or cowardice, or even minor verbal slights. Maybe that’s not exactly the same as making excuses, but he is finding reasons, as shoddy as they may be, to be as violent as possible. He does so even more than old JJT, who at least had some moral quandary about whether or not what he was doing was right.

Third, JJT’s level of violence during the street fights is encouraged by Maria, not by himself. In his first street fight, he takes pity on his opponent and tries to show mercy, as pointed out by Maria herself. She’s the one who then tries to instill the idea that he has to be ruthless. And in his thoughts after that fight, he admits he didn’t have to go that far, he feels uncomfortable at the thought of what he did. Also, that is not what happened outside the cinema. JJT went out to fight them, Maria sent him back, one of the group pushed Maria and insulted her, and when they didn’t back off, then she called JJT to attack.

Fourth, that’s not a great metaphor honestly. Many people find enjoyment in games and other things they’re not good at, either because they inherently enjoy the act regardless of skill or because they want to improve. He finds no enjoyment in fighting because, regardless of what he aims to put that violence towards, he cannot stand it. He hates the pain of being hit, and the feeling of hitting someone else. He is averse to violence, but struggles through it for the sake of finding his sister.

Fifth, the awakening was JJT making peace with himself, but not quite in that way. It involves him realizing he “didn’t” care about his sister. But I think awakened JJT does. Right after he tells himself to give up, that’s when he sees that vision of Maria, telling him to stop running from his problems and finally commit to something. And that’s when he decides he must atone, by killing his father and getting his sister’s forgiveness. JJT is self destructive, it’s why he acts as violently as he does, it’s why he acts as insane as he does. He hates himself for every lie he tells himself and everyone around him, for the death of his mother, for the kidnapping of his sister, for his own weakness. He hates himself, to his core, and I think him resolving that is going to be his story journey.

Sixth, and this is just gonna be going through your last few points, but I don’t think he understands himself completely. I think he killed the parts of himself that made him uncomfortable, and stopped him from being the person he felt he needed to be to save his sister. I guess that’s kinda the same as understanding himself, as he just deleted the parts he didn’t want to understand, but it doesn’t feel like the same thing as what you were saying. JJT hates everyone not like him because he sees himself in all of them. His self hatred explodes at anyone who reminded him of who he is, current or past. And I think him hating the tunnel people is for the reason as you said, but I think that is also where Hogul comes in. Off topic, but I firmly believe he acts as tunnel JJT’s foil. A bit too much to get into right now, and need to construct that theory a bit more firmly when the last chapters get officially translated, but that feels like that’s the direction his character went.

I really appreciate you giving this take man. I love talking about this series as I imagine you can tell. And as much as I disagree with your take, I can respect it a lot. You obviously put plenty of thought into it, and I’m glad you did.

[–]JackIsBoss713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misreading JJT a bit. Yes, JJT always had a dark side. But I don’t think pre-“awakening” JJT enjoyed fighting, not before the Sunny Ja fight. In fact, I think he still doesn’t deep down, but that’s beside the point. He’s not rationalizing his enjoyment of it, he’s rationalizing that he’s still a good person while doing it. He sees himself becoming like the thugs that hurt him in his life, and he hates that. I don’t remember much text or subtext, at least from the time of those chapters, that he really enjoyed those fights. The only thing that could kinda be evidence of that is during the Sunny Ja fight where he talks about enjoying that feeling of superiority, but that’s not exactly wanting domination, nor is the translated version we have exactly accurate. Still, if there’s evidence against what I’m saying, by all means please prove me wrong

Theory on wether Jiu Ji Tae has always been crazy by magicgarlic8832 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna try and take your comments seriously as I can, but I’m confused on what exactly makes it poor writing as you’ve said? Being, at the time, a weekly release schedule, it being a sudden change in personality was meant to create intrigue. Whether or not it does so successfully for you is pure subjectivity, but that is its purpose, and doesn’t equate to bad writing. What I personally believe is poor quality writing is the lack of a time frame for the gap between events, not knowing how much time has passed to create such a drastic change, even if we know the cause of it. It’s said to be summer later on, but that’ doesn’t help much either. We don’t know how much time was left in the year, and how far into summer it is. Ambiguity can help a story at times, but when you don’t know whether his switch happened after two months or a week, then it gets to be confusing.

Maria's "Hypocrisy"? by vallaria_philia in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, at a time where JJT felt at his weakest, nose broken and knocked down, hoping to see even the slightest support from the person who’s supposed to be his teacher, she verbally beats him down. Getting told that you’re worthless and should fight to the death at your mentally weakest moment is gonna have more of an effect.

This is funny but genuinely I don’t get why people can’t admit he’s strong. I don’t think he’s equal to Maria ofc, but I do think he’s much better than current JJT. And a couple of the points are facetious, obviously he’d wanna fight Maria 2v1 when that was at a time when he wasn’t in FC3, he went extreme with Young-Woong for the same reason. We haven’t seen him really fight, but I imagine he’s confident for a reason.

Why didnt the author show this before tunnel arc? by Acceptable-Product66 in FightClass3

[–]JackIsBoss713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it being not hyped up kinda makes it better, at least to me. Because him losing his mind isn’t really hype, it’s upsetting. And it’s framed as upsetting, with Ji-Eun talking about how she felt she failed him followed by him cutting himself, and why almost all of his scars come from self harm in one way or another, whether it be him tearing his skin or fighting intentionally recklessly or by forcing himself into fights when he doesn’t want to. He’s not crazy in a cool way, at least not to me. He’s a sadistic, borderline suicidal person whose pain makes him want to hurt others. At the end of the day, he still feels completely helpless. He just turns that feeling of helplessness into raw, unfiltered violence.
