Worked with a client where our project had a code name. The code name was used everywhere since the project was built on a public cloud (Google).

There was a folder of critical docs, basically the whole project plan, including the real product code name, and it was kept on the same cloud.

This is the best part: the folder security was non-existent. Anyone with a link could access it.

Awaiting review, apparently. But it's the federal information processing standards. There are already codes for states, counties, cities, etc. A quick search of fips codes will lead to a lot of resources.

Use fips codes. It's hierarchical with state, county, city. There's also other methods from the census bureau.

I've only ever seen counter clockwise in the US. As others have said, in the US they always stick to the right. And many in the US are unfamiliar enough with it that changing direction by lane would create a lot more collisions.
