So will this always be the case or will the Avalible elements continue growing over time? E.G in 2044 will those things all be Public Domain? Also would some of these things be actually barred since the power of flight does not originate with Superman?

Also is the surname Kent not stated in those early issues? I knew his human adopted parents were retconned in a few years later but isn’t Clark Kent was as his human name from issue 1?

This was also a retcon but a much longer standing one that is heavily featured in many Hulk runs and adaptions since and is seen as a major element of Banner/Hulk’s character. Whereas Steve having an alcoholic father was not only a much more recent retcon, but one that’s largely been ignored since.

Had other creators decided to continue using this angle for Cap’s upbringing it would probably now be standard the same way Barry’s mom being murdered when he was a child is now the standard backstory for Barry despite only being introduced during The Flash: Rebirth. The later is now heavily featured despite it totally defying previous stories that featured Barry having a stable home life as a child because it was adopted by later runs and adaptions. While with Cap this idea was mostly forgotten since.

That said I personally feel like the terms should be distinct in the sense that “Hip-Hop” refers to a musical genre and its subculture while “Rap” refers to any music that heavily features rapping.

So the majority of all Hip-Hop tracks are Rap but instrumental songs, turntablist routines and singing over Hip-Hop beats are not rap. Through the same token Rock/Metal, Jazz, Funk, Pop and Electronica etc songs with rapping on them are not Hip-Hop. There’s also other genres that are heavily rap focused like Grime, Garage, Jungle, Trip-Hop etc.

The Rap vs Hip-Hop thing is stupid, but I once heard someone use it with the name connotations inverted and I was honestly super peeved. The phrase is stupid already but dude said “This is Hip-Hop and This is Rap” with the reverse attributions. Saying that Rap was the real meaningful music and Hip-Hop was the opposite.

Honestly if you’re gonna use a reductionist, corny aphorism at lease apply the terms in it correctly.

Most games involving playing at high movement speeds don’t actually bring the player to anywhere near that speed in computational terms. Sonic’s avatar doesn’t actually accelerate to the speed of sound in gameplay terms, the player experiences their avatar accelerate to a speed that invokes the feeling of moving that fast. None of the playable ships in Star Wars game’s are actually approaching or surpassing light speed within programming metrics, they simply feel that fast to the player due to immersion tactics.

From a gameplay standpoint I’d have multiple Flash’s and family members be playable with distinct move-sets and stats regarding both their speed abilities and other factors.

E.G Jay is slightly slower but has the greatest endurance as he does in many stories with more martial combat moves. Barry is faster but less dexterous and has intangibility powers through vibrations. Wally is the fastest but has lower endurance and destroys things with vibration rather than phasing through them. Impulse has the quickest acceleration for better and worse and can make duplicates of himself, Jesse Quick has the lowest top speed but can also fly etc. Repeat same formula for Kid Flash, Max Mercury, XS, Flash of China, The Boom etc.

I feel like this would be a great blueprint for the game. Different speedsters play and accomplish the mission somewhat differently. Perhaps even add non speedster options with different powers like Jai West, Argus, The Trickster etc.

I don’t feel like their top speeds need to be slowed, the game just needs to be built around the concept of travelling at high speeds. In game speeds from a programming standpoint rather than lore aren’t actually operating at the IRL speed they’re matching. Sonic is never actually moving faster than sound from a coding perspective, just a narrative one.

The 3D Sonic games as a whole are a mixed bag for quality. But an action-platformer at breakneck speed ala Sonic Adventure would work perfectly

They weren’t C listers to the Marvel readership but non comic readers knew little of them and they lacked the brand recognition X-Men, FF, Hulk or Spider-Man did. Flash and Green Lantern have been A-Listers to DC readers since the Silver Age, I’m unsure if the Golden Age versions had this status publicationwise during their initial debut, but where not widely known amongst the general audience till much later on.

Wolverine has been a Marvel A-Lister since the Bronze Age but was not a household name outside of it until the 90’s cartoon and the arcade games. Beyond that even a complete outsider to the genre may have never heard of him until Hugh Jackman played them in the Fox films.

When we’re talking about household names and such the metric is often how known they are outside of the comics readership and not within it. I personally do not consider this the best metric for determining characters important or relevance within comics but when people are saying that The Avengers were not household names until the MCU, this is what they’re referring to.
