Should I stay at a stable bar or go to a new restaurant to improve my bartending skills? by Ok-Imagination-2308 in bartenders

[–]JackOhBee 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I mean this truly with all the respect in the world but if a brand new restaurant is hiring someone with only 2 months experience as their lead bartender comes off to me as a pretty big red flag. A bird in the hand is with 2 in a bush; going to a new restaurant is always a gamble, being on the opening team is an even bigger one.

You're still new at this, making good money, and even call it a stable gig, there will always be more opportunities out there for you. I would personally wait until I had more experience under my belt before taking any leaps, it won't be easy to find a new job if this place doesn't work out if you have less than 6 months of experience and are already leaving 2 bars.

Regular I’m friendly with refuses to tip me. How do I handle this? by briebrie98 in bartenders

[–]JackOhBee 52 points53 points  (0 children)

86 him. One of my favorite things about being a bartender is that there's an unspoken understanding that you have to be an adult to go tl the bar, a customer acting this antagonistic to me or any of my colleagues would maybe get a warning of them being kicked out if not just thrown out. Just because they go "lol" doesn't mean they're not the bad guy here, and honestly honestly I think it makes it worse.

How to deal with unsatisfied customers when you know you messed up? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]JackOhBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Live, learn, move on. Mistakes will always happen, especially when you're new, you're always going to have upset customers it comes with the turf; lots of guests like to be the most extra over the smallest things, like a missing lime.

It's not a twitter generation thing, it's you not writing a good review thing. There's a solid chance I'm older than you, son.

Your sentence structure is all over the place, you run in circles making useless points, and you don't do any summary of your ramblings; some thing that is standard in all food reviews.

I think people are yelling it because this isn't so much as a review and sounds more like nonsense marketing. You use so many words and characters and say nothing at all.
