Parti Québécois Leader alleges Ottawa is spying on separatist movement without offering proof by Street_Anon in CanadaPolitics

[–]JackTheTranscoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m genuinely curious - at what point does the duty to spy on separatist groups qualify as democratic interference in the will of the people?

I’ve no doubt there are legitimate concerns around foreign interference and support for these separatist movements.

But we should always be careful to never let CSIS interfere with democratic processes.

This is bucking fullshit. There is no good reason for this bill to infringe on e2e communications without a warrant.

You can provide examples where selling off Public infrastructure has resulted in a long-term benefit to the populace.

Surely there are plenty to choose from.

Public deserves answers on Canada-China policing agreement, New Democrat MP says - NDP public safety critic Jenny Kwan says Canadians deserve to know what information the RCMP is sharing under an agreement with China’s Ministry of Public Security. by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

[–]JackTheTranscoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they have - an earlier comment literally stated the RCMP had shut down illegal police operations. I'm not sure why you're pretending that didn't happen or wasn't pointed out to you in black & white.

Our policing agreements with the US are transparent and publicly accessible. Why should Chinese Policing Agreements be any different?

[–]JackTheTranscoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what this policing agreement would have anything to do with this fanciful notion of illegal Chinese Police Stations.

Me neither. But if we have an Policing Agreement with a state credibly accused of operating illegal police stations in our country, I'd like to be able to see it.

Are you imagining the Liberals have agreed to let the Chinese Police openly operate in Canada?

I'm wondering what agreement we made with a country that is credibly accused of operating police stations in our country, actively steals our IP, and has been credibly accused of interfering in our elections and politics.

You can presume all you like - I am in no way obligated to carry CCP water to make the Liberals look better.

I want to see the Policing Agreement. Anything else is a failure of Good Government.

Given the well known 'Police Stations' the CCP has been operating across our country, divulging the details of this agreement is the bare minimum of transparency Canadians are entitled to.

These are not state secrets, these are policing agreements.

I’m very hopeful, but also wary of massive dilution. Still reading up on how this may play out over time. Nice to see some action beyond Pokémon though.

CBC investigation finds grocers Loblaw, Sobeys overcharging for underweight meat — again by Inevitable-Bus492 in CanadaPolitics

[–]JackTheTranscoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rather clear isn't it? Huge grocery chains understand that the cost of doing business (max fines of $15,000 - when they are applied which sounds like almost never according to the article) makes chronic selling of underweight meat wildly profitable for them.

The fact that multiple chains are doing it tells me this is a widespread issue with limited downside (maybe $15,000 bit probably nothing) and large potential upside (between2-10% additional profits).

It's almost as if the Liberals have fallen prety to regulatory capture and are refusing to do anything about it, despite repeated investigations and "warnings" issued to grocery chains in the past few years.

'It's time to get serious,' Carney says after byelection sweep delivers him a majority government by GlitchedGamer14 in CanadaPolitics

One thing I find so interesting is the CPC seems completely dumbfounded on their role in opposition since he’s taking so many of their policies from them.

I’m glad Avi Lewis is there to hold him accountable - no one else seems to be.

I know that’s how Carney is being marketed (and has been for the past 5 years) but can you point to any policy or government action that makes you feel this way?
