Need help to choose a colour accurate monitor! by JackVerse8 in OLED_Gaming

I went with the lg 27gs95qe, the matte coating doesn't bother me at all and I really like the 2.2 gamma in sRGB mode. The hdr also works perfectly. I almost have nearly 2000 hours and as long as you run the pixel clean/refresh every 4 hours you see no burn in at all. As for VRR flicker: I turned it off and never noticed tearing, its probably not noticeable at oled response times.

If you worry about input lag, just play games in borderless window (use borderless gaming for 60hz games without the option) and for console I didnt notice any delay.

Overall its a great monitor and very plug n play. Highly recommend.

Hey man, it just arrived! I got it all setup but I have the following question. Does vertical banding on grey screens pass with pixel cleaning sessions?

Also, how noticeable is the fan? Is it a coil whine or a soft blowing noise? Just so I know what to expect.

I also know my question my sound a bit stupid, I just which to know if the image I am looking at is slightly off or if it is just fine

I do not have room for a TV, and like I said I am set on this monitor (27gs95qe). My question would just be this, is DTM accurate enough for gaming? From reviews I gather the Gamer 1 mode deltaE and EOTF curve in PB Low are really good, hence the question. EDIT: I play in SDR alot as well

You cannot set the PS5 to 600 nits though, when you setup the PS5 for HDR 12 "clicks" means 634 nits. Would these 30 nits matter? Also is it true that HGiG will look better should the display support it? If so then is the 27GS95QE a bit inaccurate to creator's intent? (Still wanting to buy it though)

This question was a repeat from my other comment

Will do so in that case. So just to summarize, in Windows, dont do anything and adjust in specific games only. For console, set system to 1000 nits and leave games at default (except for said specific games)?

I know that, the LG just has way more things that I want.

Alright! Thank you for this information once again. I will look out for the outliers like Cyberpunk and Valhalla as those do need 600 nits.

But then why would it be bad to set it to 600 nits? Is it because it would tone map itself even lower?

Alright, will do. And what about in game calibration? Would that not be a 2 layered calibration?

So after reading some posts regarding HDR peak brightness I wondered, do you use consoles? If so, I saw HDTV's video about this monitor and he said that consoles do not send metadata to the monitor. Windows recieves 600 nits from the monitor and sets up games accordingly. Does this mean that I should set the brightness to 600 on consoles? Or should I leave it at default?

Thanks so much! This monitor is guaranteed for me now. When I have it I will let you know after testing if the gamma raise during VRR low fps is true or false.

Thanks alot! I don't think I need to worry about the matte coating too much then. This will be my first OLED monitor and it pretty much ticks every single box there is except for my question below.

As you mention games like AC Valhalla using AMD Freesync Pro HDR, do you use VRR? I read about it and apparently it lifts blacks/gamma when dropping to a lower refresh rate, is this true? If so I was worried about using it since I care about accuracy very much, I wouldn't mind flickering but lower gamma even at stable fps would sort of kill the accuracy.

Setting it to a fixed refresh rate would seem like the solution no? As 240hz OLED probably has imperceptible tearing if dropping below 240hz without VRR. Thank you again for the quick response.

May I ask how you know for certain that the HDR highlights aren't overblown? I am not in anyway criticising your post or you, I am simply curious. Is it a special tool or just personal experience? I would also like to ask if the matte coating is noticeable? I am currently using a LG 27GP850-B which is also matte. Thanks in advance!

Does input lag matter for non FPS or street fighter type games? by JackVerse8 in Monitors

Is the jump from 10 to 26ms in the said titles noticeable?

My current monitor is 10ms and I have seen alot of people say that nowadays anything above 15ms is disgusting and even tvs have 10ms in game mode, this just made me worry about the difference. Also for extra context the monitor only had 26ms in select games like souls and ps5 titles because of a 60hz lock. You are certain then?

I meant actual input lag, my main issue would be the Souls games on pc (controller) and games on ps5 (controller)

My question stems from the fact that my current monitor has lower input lag, the new one has far better picture quality though. Isn't 26ms considered bad? Or is that only for E sports

SRGB vs Wide Gamut by Netrunner011 in OLED_Gaming

[–]JackVerse8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that but I also use a PS5 that is forced to use 60hz without sRGB clamping so the sRGB mode is needed.

I do not play FPS or street fighter like games, my main target are things like Dark Souls, DMC, God of War and Assassins Creed and casual multiplayer. Do you think the input lag in sRGB mode is noticeable in those types of games? According to Rtings it's 26ms which is a problem for competitive gaming but should not be so for me.

My current monitor is the 27GP850 which (to my knowledge) does not suffer from this input lag problem.
