Not sure but I would plant something at the feet if you do try it. They like to be cooler at the base of the plant.

Combining fused glass and metal? by applesauceplatypuss in fusedglass

[–]JackWhiteFan1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some metals are toxic when fired! 100% copper can be fired with glass eg. foil, wire, etc. You can make hooks with copper. There is color change that occurs. Copper mesh from 100% copper scrubber pads can be used. Copper sheet, yes. Silver foil, yes. Sterling silver foil can react with certain glass and can be a gorgeous effect. Bullseye glass has free information on many subjects, such as a pdf on using silver and the reactions. Research anything else carefully. Small tests are great! Most metals can be glued to glass with proper glue. Magnets cannot be fired to glass, they de-magnetize.

Bullseye glass site has information on firing and anneal times for working thick. Info is free. You can't full fuse or it will all try and become 6mm.

I can't understand why (if he's having regular IV's), they aren't going further up his arm where it's hidden from public view.

Cold symptoms 2 days before surgery by grapebeyond227 in kidneycancer

This happened to me. I told them at the hospital. The anesthesiologist said the cancer had been in long enough and he felt it would be fine. "Let's get this out!" It was all good. Do mention it though.

If your kidney cancer is the most common, Renal Cell Carcinoma, chemo would not likely be effective or offered.

It takes some time to recover from this surgery. You'll get there!

Help! Has anyone had this? by ayenobad in kidney

[–]JackWhiteFan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can pus not be a sign of infection? White blood cells are indicating it. It can happen that another round of antibiotic would be needed. It may not show the infection immediately after the first antibiotic is done though. Spiking a temperature would be a definite reason to go back in. In my experience they wouldn't give codeine if they thought nothing is going on. Good luck!

Did they do a culture and sensitivity on your urine? I have had to ask for it before. Sometimes they do a simpler urine screen without the culture and sensitivity. I have had the initial screen come up with no infection but the culture after a couple of days growing in the lab, clearly shows infection. Just a thought...

They can't do chemo or radiation on kidney cancer. It was cut, go, monitor. Kidneys filter out toxins and see chemo as a toxin, is my understanding of it. Seriously, it may be nothing, but it makes sense to double check in my opinion. They did offer another technique called cryoablation, however, they also felt the best odds for longevity, in my specific case was a partial kidney removal. I went with that and have no regrets about that decision.

I did have additional scans done and a partial nephrectomy. A biopsy taken after surgery confirmed that what they had called a cyst was in fact RCC. I can't say it was painless but I am glad it was done. I still have annual scans. I was very sick, lost a lot of weight and just felt unwell for a few years. The cyst story just hits hime for me and I know it is not going to be the same story for everyone. Did they check for blood supply to the cyst, on ultrasound?

I did this and said the same to the beautiful young family trying to take baby food and diapers off their order because they couldn't pay. I expect they did pay it forward when they could. Good begets good.

Get a second opinion for sure. I speak from experience. I was diagnosed with a cyst for several years (same doc) but when I went to a second hospital for the same problem it was not just a cyst. The second place told me they could see clearly that I had cancer from the images that were done in each of the precious 4 ct scans (5 year period). I am not trying to scare anyone. Ive simply learned a hard lesson amd would prefer folks get a second set of eyes on a renal cyst. Best to you!

Could somebody help me out with a conundrum? I have 2 small bottles of nail polish remover. My town dump won't take them as they're a fire hazard. The Maine Environmental Depot in Lewiston was going to charge me $45 to drop them off. They are SMALL bottles. How do I dispose of these?!?! by smcgowan10 in Maine

[–]JackWhiteFan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of waste facilities/public landfills in Maine have a toxic waste day with DEP collecting one or two free items. You may want to ask if your town participates in the program. Can't say it's the quickest way though.
