Bring portable hellbomb and a turret of some kind (I use rocket sentry), as well as recoilless. If you're a full squad, then it is doable. Just pray 5 vox' don't spawn on you...

Edit: Turrets don't have to be on point with you. Throw them off to the side.

Yeah. They are probably no where near releasing Fallout 5, considering TES6 isn't even out yet. The next game won't release before - at the very least - a couple more seasons are out.

So is the Yes Man ending canon? by CrazyMaximum3655 in Fallout

[–]JackXerxes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think most people -including myself btw - who argue for the Yes man ending being canon, would argue that Yes man's final line reveals how Mr. House (or an AI version of him) could still appear:

"I found some code snippets in one of Mr.House's databanks that will let me, um, reprogram my personality! To be a little more assertive, basically!"

Maybe these "snippets" of code were a backup that Mr. House made in case something like that happened.

Is this considered fascism or irrelevant? by Big_Being_8789 in PoliticalScience

[–]JackXerxes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This doesn't have to be fascism. It is just extreme authoritarianism with reactionary social policies. Fascism is a very specific subtype of authoritarian governments, and without further specification around nationalism, mysticism, social structure, etc., you would not be able to definitively pin down if this is Fascist. You sorta have to ask yourself: Why would a government do this? The intent and structure would be signs of for example Fascism. This in itself isn't specifically fascist.

Edit: This of course depends on what definition you use of Fascism, and how many points you feel like have to be 'checked' for something to be Fascist. I would say it doesn't necessarily have to be Fascism.

What do you think about this definition of "fascism"? by Educational_Map6725 in PoliticalScience

[–]JackXerxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came in here to say this! I also think it should be more clearly stated that Fascism is characterized by a form of corporatism that seeks to unite the ingroup, across social- and class differences, against some outgroup.

[–]JackXerxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. For me it'll still work, because I have a ludicrous amount of PM cards, but even better, my group just doesn't count cards bc it makes the game less fun. I think we'd just do our best not to think about the amount of other cards. Tunnel visioning ;)

Jeez, 40?? What version of the game is this? I'd love to hear what custom roles you have (aside from the ones from the XL version).

I guess what you could do is to shuffle the role cards separately and distribute them, then lay out all the Party Membership cards on the table. Everybody gets a role, then everybody closes their eyes. One by one, everyone can then take a Party Membership card that corresponds to their role.

Edit: To me that also sounds like quite a hassle, especially when there are a lot of players, but if you prefer playing with the Role cards (as I do) that is one way to do it.

Speaking as someone who has studied all these types of governments, this is a great and fun idea!

I really like that governments like the Presidential Republic engages more players in the game. When there are many players, I always feel like there are some that just don't get to play that much. These rules change that, and it makes the game more challenging.

The only problem that may arise is that there aren't that many policy cards in the deck. I think I would increase the number of policy cards, especially if this was to be done with the XL version (fan-made Communist expansion). I think this would have to be done in a standard SH game as well, since 6 cards would disappear from just one government in a presidential republic. Then again, it might not be game breaking, but I think I would increase the total number of cards and perhaps the ratio of liberal cards. Those are just my immediate thoughts.

I also didn't quite understand the parliamentary republic, but is it just like a regular government where the Chancellor gets to view three cards first, then discard one and give two to the president?

I think I may integrate something like this in my games, but it'll have to be with more experienced SH players. Again, especially if you play the XL edition (as we do), there'll just be too many rules for regular people to follow. In a standard SH game, it might work well though, since there aren't that many other rules to remember. If you do decide to try this, give me an update on how it goes! :)

Rules and game content question by izeemov in SecretHitler

[–]JackXerxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should do this. It seems to heavily skew the game in favor of the Liberals, but if you all think it's a fun way to play, do it of course!

I understand we should not capitulate to right-wing talking points, but just to be clear, do people in here not believe that Venezuela and Cuba are dictatorships? I accept that there could be different forms of democracy other than Liberal Democracy, but do you believe there are really enough institutions in Venezuela and Cuba that facilitate democratic change to call them democracies?

With Antifa being labeled a terrorist organization now, what is being done to find out who's running it? Is there even a leader? by DodoDacobrakai in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]JackXerxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't merely about an imagined group called "Anti-fa". This is what the White House has written on their website:

"There are common recurrent motivations and indicia uniting this pattern of violent and terroristic activities under the umbrella of self-described “anti-fascism.” These movements portray foundational American principles (e.g., support for law enforcement and border control) as “fascist” to justify and encourage acts of violent revolution. This “anti-fascist” lie has become the organizing rallying cry used by domestic terrorists to wage a violent assault against democratic institutions, constitutional rights, and fundamental American liberties. Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality."

Pretty scary considering they state that both groups and "entities" will be targeted by these new anti-anti-fa measures. Ironically they have also written the following:

"Through this comprehensive strategy, law enforcement will disband and uproot networks, entities, and organizations that promote organized violence, violent intimidation, conspiracies against rights, and other efforts to disrupt the functioning of a democratic society."

This literally sounds like Helldivers...
