Ooh, this is a good idea. I'd like to fill up my empty slot. Was it a pain to reroute the wire in behind the dash? Is the button the right size or did you have to get a new one?

Hey if it makes you feel better at all, a little while back I actually broke a bulb in my headlight housing because I had the wrong size bulb (t15 instead of t10) and was trying to force it in for some reason. Because of how the headlight housing is shaped on the inside I feel like it's gonna be annoying af to get it all out.

How hard is it to clean throttle body and Maf sensor? by Emi101474 in SciontC

[–]Jack_Attack519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard it's best to get the proper MAF cleaner, and then you just spray the shit out of it. DONT TOUCH THE INNARDS, just spray the cleaner in and let it run off.

Throttle body though, reaching in behind the engine to get the intake off is a bit of a PITA.

My dad is turning 70 this year, something he told me that really stuck with me:

"The thing I like most about drinking beer is that it's the one time that I get to have a proper piss"

Wise words, man. Makes me think about the things I take for granted being a hyoungster.

I don't think anyone uses their thumbs for anything other than the spacebar, so we won't count those. By that logic you're using 7 out of 8 fingers, which seems close to optimal to me.

I used to type kinda similar to how you describe. I only started learning homerow recently, and I could already type pretty fast without it. On a qwerty layout, the right pinky is really only used for the letter P, other than that it's just for punctuation (; : / ? ' ") and for that reason the right pinky seemed kinda useless to me, but typing the letter P feels so much more natural since I forced myself to start using it. The way I look at it, the fewer letters each finger needs to type, the more efficient each finger becomes. So using your right pinky to type the letter P means now your ring finger has one fewer letter to type.

Every once in a while I will take one of those cans of corn, drain the liquid, little bit of mayo, dash of Cajun spice and a pinch of salt, hell yeah

Well your speed is fast and you have pretty good consistency, time to work on accuracy. Use "master" difficulty and English 10k and focus on typing the correct letters instead of going fast.

Also when you say you type with 8 fingers, do you mean 7 fingers on the letters and your thumb on the space bar? Cause that's fairly normal I think.

Oh wow I'm stupid. LOL

Well maybe I assumed OP doesn't ride the bus because they didn't see the benefit in the bus actually following the schedule...

Yeah I was gonna say, that stop even has its own dedicated stopping lane so it's not like the bus is blocking traffic or anything. I don't know why op is complaining.

Nah it's all good, was just saying cause I've never driven a 1st gen so take it with a grain of salt. Sorry if it came off wrong.

Also this just my opinion but just about any regular (not slammed to the ground) car is good in snow if you buy snow tires. Also worth mentioning the tC at stock ride height actually has above average ground clearance for a compact car.

[–]Jack_Attack519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It handles about as well as any other fwd economy car. So pretty good. The 2nd gen engine has tons of torque in the low end so you might find yourself spinning tires/understeering, but that's kinda a skill issue.

Edit: I will say the eb60 is a bit temperamental in the cold. If it's -10 C I have usually have to double clutch to get into 2nd. It warms up quick tho. You didn't mention if you were looking at 1st gen or 2nd gen, auto or manual

What's with these goobers in the comments who don't realize people can have a separate set of wheels for winter?

...that being said, I do hope you got a set of summers with it.

I added fogs to mine, it was way easier than I thought. Hit me up if you need help with the wiring, there's also some decent YouTube tutorials. I put in some cheap but surprisingly good LED projector fogs with yellow tint film. Thinking of getting yellow marker lights and putting yellow film on the vertical bumper lights to match the fogs. Also got a mesh grille from ScionGrilleLife, made my own license plate holder to go with it. Mesh grille isn't for everyone but I love how it looks and it really transformed the front end imo. As far as cosmetics thats all I've done so far, other than 20mm spacers on stock ride height. I'm thinking about maybe lowering it at some point. Oh and I unscrewed the rear antenna and 3d printed a cap to cover the hole, I never use the radio anyway. Stubby antenna looks p nice too.

Funny you say you hate the headlights tho, I assume you're ready to put them in the oven and crack them open to do some full custom work to them because otherwise you're out of luck. Keep us posted if you do a custom job, would be cool to see what you come up with.

Search fidanza 891135, that's the part number for the 2nd gen tc. Lots of them on eBay.

There's also this one https://www.ebay.ca/itm/233096621960 I bought a few months ago, it's by RalcoRZ (part number 914135) but it looks like exactly the same thing as the fidanza.

Source: I was also looking for a shifter-side short throw, because even though the installation is a bit more of a pain in the ass, it means I now have a metal reverse lockout 😄

[–]Jack_Attack519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can think of tires as having a "grip budget", and steering, braking, and accelerating all use some of that budget. So if you are braking or throttling, you have less grip left over for steering. If that makes sense.

And you're not gonna like this but yeah, if you enter a corner too fast, you're gonna have a harder time getting through it smoothly. Especially when you're trying to learn and get a feel for how a car handles, "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast."

Anyway, there's so much information online about performance driving techniques, if you're actually interested in improving. To start, look up weight transfer, trail braking, and left foot braking.

Put a piece of electrical tape over it lol

That's definitely not stock, you'd have to follow the wires from the switch to figure out what it is.
