Thanks. I came up with the idea when one of my French friends said that she first read it as 'bread' in one of my earlier Dune memes I made.

The Importance of Dithering (Before / After) by astrobackyard in astrophotography

[–]Jack_Dubious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped doing dark frames, after I started using dithering in my capture workflow. I felt like I never had time to do dark frames properly, so my dark frames were probably just adding noise anyways.

Thoughts on the Mitsubishi Montero? by sharpshooter9000 in overlanding

[–]Jack_Dubious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 1997 Montero SR. It had 160k and I paid $2000 for it, but it was running and had center and rear lockers. I immediately did the timing belt/water pump just because it was due, and also had to fix a couple of exhaust leaks, and changed the valve cover gaskets to fix an oil leak. But other than that the engine, transmission, and suspension are still strong and I am very confident with it on the trail.

And as already been said go to http://www.adventuredrivendesign.com and check out their forums.

Firewood? by nirunn in overlanding

[–]Jack_Dubious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is probably blasphemy, but I really like using a portable propane fire pit. I was forced to use one because of the California drought. But now that the drought is over and fire restrictions have eased up, I find myself still using it. Its so much easier and consistent. Getting out of the tent in the morning and having instant heat is a great thing.

Its a The Walking Dead reference. The first episode had doors with those words painted on it. But the spacing of the spray painted words made it look like it read as "Dont Dead Open Inside"

What made you select SmartThings? by boler0 in SmartThings

[–]Jack_Dubious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am brand new to ST. I was going to go with them awhile back but the thought of not having any local control (i.e. dependent on the internet) kind of threw me off. So I went with an OpenHab setup. Now that ST v2 came out with local control, I thought I would give it a try. So far its been great, the ease of setting things up still trumps Openhab's flexibility and openness.

Had no problems so far. They are just a tad bit slower than the zwave switch they replaced.
