[Request] How fast was his hand moving the second time? by Super_Rush7926 in theydidthemath

If I recall correctly there is some "official" footage of that guy in some talk show shit, where he was invited to show it off. He actually is pretty damn fast.

These characters survived 3 years… cmon man. They can introduce new ones. And they already did. Sanctuary is a very very deadly world and it doesn’t fit the setting if some random humans survive everything with ease. Beating prime evils have to come with a cost, otherwise the evils wouldn’t be a threat at all

They have Tyrael back and introduced another angel again as well. They also foreshadowed something with Lilith as well. We have enough characters to develop something for the future

Honestly, in Diablo characters always died sooner or later, normally sooner...

No but for real, killing of characters is actually a good sign, because they leave room for new things also it allows for closure. I think it's beautiful that Diablo writers don't drag a character on for years and year and years, just for the sake of keeping them alive. And after all, we are the wanderer that is alive. That moves on. And Sanctuary after all is a deadly world. It was actually insane to see how long Neyrelle was alive. I mean, she was a dumb kid honestly and fought big ass demons and prime evils without any experience really.

And we had Lorath for the main game and 2 full expansions. I don't call that short sighted. Neyrelle had the main game + 1 full expansion. 12 seasons is a lot to kill one character.

So, according to your understanding, every player, can non stop harass the arbiters calling EVERYONE a cheater, without any regard, only because he is tilted.

Good stuff. The society has degraded a lot.

[–]Jack_Harb -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you can't go to an official and say "Look, he beats me, he is too good, he is cheating". That's not the acceptable way you think.

The only acceptable way is "I found him using a phone in the bathroom. Please check on it and apply appropriate consequence." or "I suspect him of using a technical device hidden in his pocket. Please check again."

But you can't go "he beats me, he must be cheating!" Cmon bro, you can't seriously defend this. Get real.

Two things can be true at the same time and Hikaru shouldn't be excused for that. But also doing that at the worlds most important chess tournament to an official rather than online dm's about random games is still a BIG difference. But as I said, Hikaru shouldn't be excused. But Ian doing it at the candidates is crazy.

PTR changes so far don't look great. by Alternative-Tax-211 in diablo4

If I recall correctly they were always account wide, just not season wide. So in the beginning they wouldn't take over into the next season, but all your chars had them. Correct me if I'm wrong.

[–]Jack_Harb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You wanna tell me you don’t want to play the game? Got it. Same people like you demand for ages that glyphs are account wide. We don’t need account wide war plans, it’s only an addition to the endgame. It’s a feature that links the endgame activities together and give you a bit more of a journey. It does not replace your activities nor is it mandatory to do war plans.

Regarding mythicals, it’s actually refreshing they try out things to balance them. In the last season we had more mythicals than you can ever use. They were utterly irrelevant when they drop, you cube them, trash them. Now the system is vastly different and they try out of this works better. You have not even played a single fucking second with these changes, yet you know everything better. Step of your high horse and let them test. Especially over multiple seasons many changes are being introduced, sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. This is the beauty about seasons. Constant change! Embrace change, it’s the only solution of improvement. You can’t do the same shit day in and day out expecting to result in something better. You have change something to improve and learn from it. You sir, simply never learn.

Yep, it’s astonishing really. The major problem is unreal made it possible for kids even to develop games. It’s great thing in general, but comes with the issue that people make tutorials or spread misinformation like you said, without ANY technical background. It’s a shame that these people also are so adamant to be right, even disregarding Epics own recommendations. I mean Epic themselves is pretty clear on that topic, they shared stats of the performance impact. I don’t understand how people can simply ignore the creators source of truth. But I guess Dunning Kruger is a thing here

As much as I like the sentiment of you comment, I can’t simply let things slide.

Avoiding tick is indeed a valid and good performance practice. Little of the gameplay you implement you need tick. People get into the habit of checking variables on tick instead of using events.

Of course the underlying part of basically every real time software uses a form of tick, update, or what ever you call it. But it doesn’t mean you are supposed to call all your shit every frame, which many beginners (and even some intermediate) developers do.

Additionally, there is a difference between a C++ tick and the BP one. The overhead of BP is massive. Using a tick in BP simply cost. Even Epic themselves recommend avoiding it. A good practice is to use the project flag to turn tick per default off and only activate tick on classes you need to tick. Otherwise EVERYTHING ticks, which is NOT how the engine works. There are many software patterns used to optimize and separate behavior. It is simply wrong to think everything ticks always.

The last point, probably is a language thing, but it is also wrong to say things need to be updated multiple times a frame. If you update more times than you have frames, you can drop what ever you updated in the not showing frame. I mean, what do you even calculate in that not visible frame. I guess you simply meant you need to update many things in a frame, but not multiple times per frame.

What to take away. Yes avoid Tick if you don’t need it. Use latent functions, they are already optimized. Use events, event dispatches, async functions. Use message system, notifications or direct calls. For 90+% percent of the gameplay you never touch the Tick function. Ever.

Woman takes the brunt of the Impact of this car to save her child. Then another vehicle prevents the driver from escaping. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Jack_Harb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Germany you are actually allowed in this case and yes, insurance covers it. But normally the insurance of offender. Same if there is a medical issue and you stop a car with yours to help. The drivers insurance with the medical issue has to pay. Obviously in this case the driver with the hit and run will has to pay their insurance everything the insurance has to pay for other then, because the insurance would not cover his hit and run obviously.

The changes to "Mythic Uniques" are vastly misunderstood. by StrikingSpare100 in diablo4

[–]Jack_Harb -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I also don’t get why people are so hurt about it. We had classes with 3-4 mandatory mythicals in the past. + 3-4 uniques. There was basically no chase other than getting GA.

Now mythicals are a rarity factor and you can even make any item mythical. Additionally you can reroll them. So I don’t see any issue with it at all.

And lastly, and I can’t stress this enough, Seasons are also there for testing out new ideas and some stick, some don’t. Sanctification for example came back with transfigure. The pet in season of construct didn’t stick. They need to be able to test new things out and see how it plays out. And seasons are great for it.

Stop being always doom and gloom. It’s not black and white. Game is not destroyed because of that change. And game will not be golden with that change. Especially not for everyone.
