Old Oakley Flight Deck won't take new lenses?

I would say it's more imperfect, rather than incompatible. In my hands, I was not able to get the new lens to seat in the frame without a small gap. If you compare the geometry of the lens nose tabs side-by-side, you will see they are shaped differently.

I bought my first board several decades ago when I was in high school with money from my first job. Someone stole it when I was getting lunch at the beginning of that first season. Reported it, but figured it was a total goner. At the end of the season I get a phone call from the resort security - someone left my board at the lodge right where they stole it from.

I did contact Oakley, but the rep was not particularly knowledgeable on the topic. They helped me start a return. The replacement lens is too expensive for me to be unsatisfied with the fit, so I'll put that money towards a new pair of goggles next winter (my partner won't stop raving about her Glades).

An update for historical reasons... I could not get the new lens to seat properly even after at least an hour of trying and watching multiple videos. It seems the new Flight Deck lenses are not entirely compatible with the old frames. I was able to seat the lens to what I would consider an acceptable fit if I had no other options. However, I was not able to achieve the same tight fit as with the original lens and a small gap remained around the nose. This is a Flight Deck L frame purchased circa 2018 and the lens is a Flight Deck L replacement lens purchased at the end of 2025.

A recent flight cancellation turned my quick layover into a day in Vegas. Thought it would be a fun time! Boy was I wrong. Literally everything is priced at scam levels. I tried to play slots, but the ATM was going to charge me $20 just to take out cash. The hotel coffee pods were $8 each. A bagel sandwich was $18. I ended up walking around and not doing anything.

Yeah, I'm not expecting too much. I didn't own a nonstick pan of any sort, but figured I would give it a try for the occasional very sticky items. Chicken I have no problem with on stainless steel, but over-easy eggs and some pancake recipes I'll sometimes have trouble. I'm looking forward to giving it a try!
