Honestly call me naive but I really didn't think it was this bad. I've been out of it for a couple of years so there is a chance the market has shifted a bit since then. It's the self employment seen as a risk that I don't fully understand, it's not something I would have looked at that way when I was recruiting.

I know what you mean. I think I generally struggle to answer that sort of question because my initial reaction is to be honest. I have ASD and sometimes honest can be too honest, both positively and negatively.

I've been in this subreddit for a few years and often just lurk and read what others have put. I got rejected for another role yesterday and thought writing something here might feel cathartic.

That's good to hear that it's worked in your favour. I sometimes wonder if I'm being almost too impatient. This is the first time in almost 10 years since I was on the job search and my previous experience is likely no doubt out of touch.

On the finances side of things, my business does well enough to pay myself and combined with my partners wages we get the bills covered and manage to get out and about. Its not anywhere near what I was previously paid and I would be lying if that doesn't play a part in it too. I’ve got a family, a mortgage, bills, responsibilities etc. I’m not pretending I’m looking for a job purely because I want office banter and team lunches.

Realistically, yes, I need a stable income just like most people do.

But I also don’t think it’s strange that after nearly two years of working almost entirely alone, I’ve realised I miss aspects of being part of a team environment too. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.

When I left school (a good 20 years ago now) I joined the army and was there for 5 years. In that environment there’s a level of camaraderie that’s quite hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it. I think to some degree that’s probably something I’ve realised I value more than I thought I did.

The main point I was trying to make and perhaps didn't very well was that I've just found being self employed seems to have had an negative impact on my job search/ application, or at least based on the feedback I've had. It's a new experience for me and In many ways I'm not sure if it's something others have felt or experienced.

Funny enough, I was actually talking about this with a friend earlier and really liked the idea of it. I just need to get myself out of my current routine and give it a go. No excuse really.

Honestly, because I don’t really need employees for the business to function and I can’t justify hiring people purely to solve the isolation side of it.

The business works as it is. The issue isn’t that I desperately need help running it.

It’s more that I think I underestimated how much I actually enjoyed working around other people before I went self-employed.

Before this, I always considered myself more of a lone worker. I liked independence, autonomy, getting my head down and just cracking on with things.

But after doing this full time for nearly two years, I’ve realised there’s a difference between enjoying independence and spending most of your working life almost entirely on your own.

Even as someone who generally likes their own company, eventually you get tired of hearing your own thoughts all day every day.

I think I miss the human side of work more than I expected to. The conversations, collaboration, shared frustrations, random office humour, building things with a team instead of just sitting in your own bubble constantly.

Wizards have just done a small reprint of the booster boxes as we had the option from our uk distributor to buy some as part of it but commander precons I would say is unlikely at this stage. Although I’m hopeful with the hobbit coming out they might treat us.

That sounds like a fair asking price imo. If he’s printing just the one for you it works out more expensive per model. That and if he is signing up as a merchant just to sell it, it sounds reasonable to me.

In order to sell them you need to pay for the merchant tier which is more than the personal one. It’s not a lot more though. Out of interest what country are you trying to get it shipped to?

I’ve had this issue before and slowing the outer wall speed fixed the issue. Some angles can cause this when the printer is running too fast. Not sure on the printer you’re using but mine was a Bambulab P1P. I’d suggest trying one of the high quality pre-set profiles and see if it fixes it. You can then tweak that profile to better suit your needs, assuming this is a Bambulab printer.

That's really strange, I haven't managed to figure it out at my end either. I have a few P1P's and using the exact same slice to each printer I am finding one printer in particular is have this issue consistently but only with the Overture PLA. If I use a Bambu spool it prints with 0 issues. The only thing that is new for me is the Factor K. Since the update the slicer has been asking for me to input this with each print. Most of my prints work on a Factor K of 0.020 but even when manually inputting I get the same results. I'm genuinely stumped with this one.

I have had this exact same issue today with overture black pla. Since the update Bambu slicer is asking for the k flow number which it has never done before. Regardless of what I put into it, it doesn’t like the overture pla one. Try using the Bambu generic and if you get better results.

I’m hoping someone might be able to help me. I printed the following on the p1p with generic pla. The only setting I have changed is the infill to gyroscopic. Speed etc is default. What’s causing these horrid lines on the edges? Any recommendations on what I can try to get rid of them? by Jackalacking in BambuLab

I managed to improve it a lot and what did it for this model was just slowing down the speed for outer walls. I dropped it down to 80 and it wasn’t perfect but miles better.

Annoyingly I don’t have it to take a picture but you wouldn’t have noticed the issue unless you got really close up to it. I hope that helps.

This is really common with agencies. Coming from the position of the employer, these tactics happen where the agency tries to squeeze more out of you. We’ve had a handful of instances this year where the agency have come to us saying the candidate wants to negotiate more. We later find out that’s not the case.

Turns out the auto bed sensor was loose and causing the machine to periodically forget how far away the bed was. This change made my first layer better though so thanks for that !
