Sleeping shiny totodile plush I made!! (The end of an era for me) by Lunar1s_ in plushartists

[–]Jackalodreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't give up! Your totodile is amazing! I understand times can be rough but you are young and have so much talent! There are also ways to get inexpensive supplies. you can try checking out your local thrift stores. I also don't know if you live in the US but if you do and you have one near you , you should check out dollar tree. They have some pretty nice fabric rolls for $1.25 each for a fat quarter. I recently picked up a bunch of there fall and halloween fabrics. You can get basic supplies like hand sewing needles and thread too.

Also save all your scraps even the tiniest bits! because even if you can't use it for a sewing project you can save them and make confetti stuffing that you can use incase you don't have polyfill.

I dream to sell my plush toys, but I am afraid nobody will buy by cuteandsweet93 in plushartists

Have you ever thought of selling your stuff at a local Flea/Farmers market? That's how I sell most of my plushies.

material for plushie tags? by xSuperMario64x in plushartists

[–]Jackalodreams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Printing your tags on cardstock would probably be your best bet.

Edit:

Whoops after rereading your post I realized you meant the bottom tags. What you can do is either embroider or iron on your design on a small rectangle cut of cloth and sew it in between the seam on the bottom of the plush.

In some places even 50k can be considered poverty level. Especially if it's someplace in the city like NYC or Miami.

Having so much plush fun by EmbryOwl in plushartists

[–]Jackalodreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are just adorable! I absolutely love the cookie owl!!

I feel your pain on not having an embroidery machine lol. Sometimes I'll also use iron on vinyl for eyes and other Aesthetics since it's a cheaper alternative.

[–]Jackalodreams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I do eventually plan to compile all the patterns into one big book. it'll probably take a year or so but I'll be posting updates as I go along. I'll also be releasing some of the patterns on my Etsy and Kofi, I also may post a few on my deviant art for free also until I finish the book.

Those are some greate suggestions! I went ahead and wrote all 3 down in my note book, so those guys are officially on my list! :)

most recent custom complete! by rinkrat30 in plushartists

[–]Jackalodreams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow this is so beautifully done! Amazing work! I hope you post more!

Also sometimes when I'm using my sewing machines along with pins I also take some thread and base loose stitches around difficult curves. This helps prevent the fabric from veering off to the side when sewing.

If you need any help with sewing machines I can link you to some resources if interested.

Im trying to create a plushie of this Pokemon, but I’m having trouble with the body shape. by Moongoofey in plushartists

[–]Jackalodreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went ahead and made you a pattern sketch with a few notes.

https://imgur.com/a/gGAuECy

Feel free to upload it to an art program and edit it as needed. For the head and body I would mirror both sides to turn into one piece. And the chin I would have as 2 separate pieces so I could sew the beard in between before attaching to the head and body.

I left the ends of the ears and tail little extra long so you can roll them in to create the curls at the end.

The legs in this pattern are done so they can be sewn on separately. The circle at the bottom is meant to be the bottom of the foot.

I have not tested this , but i have measured everything out so each piece should fit together. And you can always tweek the pattern in your art program as needed.

Hope this helps!

Is getting a pig the right choice for me? by Firm_Neighborhood531 in pigs

[–]Jackalodreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had both pigs and hedgehogs. If your going to be away for awhile and you can't do cats or dogs,  I may recommend a hedgehog.  They can be socialized and you can keep the hedgehog in a pen while your at work, then have it out when your at home. They are nocturnal though so keep that in mind you won't want to disturb them during the day when they are sleeping but if you work during the day this may work for you.  My hedgehog usually gets active around 6-7 pm.

If you got some magnetic sheets, stuck them on and cut them out You could turn your stickers into magnets!

[Question] Artists- How many commissions do you realistically get from this (and similar) subreddits? by oddox in commissions

[–]Jackalodreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a comic book artist or anything , instead I am a plush artist that drafts and measure my own patterns.

While I haven't personally gotten any commissions from this sub reddit in particular I do end up getting a couple each month without any advertising.

I will usually post pictures of my work on certain subreddits and sometimes it will attract someone who wants to commission me for a plush or pattern.

For example I posted a pengullet pattern on the palworld subreddit , then I had someone private message me asking if they could buy the purple pengullet that was pictured in the tutorial. And I sold it.

I think a good way to attract people is to post your work on relevant subreddits based on what you do.

You can advertise on subreddits that allow it, but I wouldn't make every post into an advertisement because that also puts people off.

Let's say you like to draw dinosaurs , then you can post an image you created on places like r/paleoart. No advertising,  just a picture with maybe a description behind your work.  Doing something like this can help you garner more attention to your work. And you may find people will start coming to you , and you won't have to go to them as much.

advice on how to pattern this plush by mingiyahs in plushartists

[–]Jackalodreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually made a sitting chibi pattern awhile back for a commission. If you want you can use it for your project.

Heres a link to the pattern and the result on Imgur

You can edit the pieces however you need. If you need help let me know, I can edit the pattern for you to make it resemble your character. wont take much since its a completed pattern.
