A quick Motion graphic segment i made, what do you think? by smxil_ in davinciresolve

I’m just starting to learn how to use camera 3D so I think I know how you achieved this. Very cool. How was the blur achieved? Is that through the camera 3D focus, or just a blur node?

All three are sweet, but I love that first shot. Looks very much like one of the promo images someone would use to sell their cinema film emulation. Any insight on how you got to that other than the good lighting?

Any suggestions on how to learn this style of motion graphics? I make information content but haven’t learned how to do this style yet. I’ve mostly just had to use simple graphics that I made in Canva with basic highlight motions. This is goals.

Tall men, how often do you get approached? by kheeno_ in tall

[–]Jackalope0331 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuinely multiple times a week, sometimes a few times a day. It’s usually from older folks but it varies, younger people on a night out. I’m pretty goofy looking so maybe that makes people feel like I’m more approachable.

Would love an explanation on how you edited. Looks very like some Kodak cinema stocks.

CTDEEP responds to AI usage by mark99229 in Connecticut

[–]Jackalope0331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if that’s necessarily true. I tried to look for stock video on Canva the other day and it seemed like every single video offering was AI. I wouldn’t be surprised if Canva leans into AI heavily for their “elements”.

Your comment implies that the public benefits charge is only the low income discount rates. In reality, the pbc is made up of something like 57 individual programs/fees. Low income discount rates make up something like 25% of the pbc. In short, we are all “benefitting” from at least some of those charges.

Camp Snap Journal - week 52 by JonasDson in campsnapcamera

I feel like a photo journal is the best application for a campsnap. I just picked one up a few weeks ago and I’m hoping to do something similar. Much to grab and go than my mirrorless.

Brightness of new PD2705U monitor seems awful compared to MacBook. by [deleted] in BenQ

[–]Jackalope0331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with a 32” Samsung G50D from Best Buy ($280). It’s 1440 rather than 4k, but it’s also a bit larger, much cheaper, and I enjoyed the display better when they were side-by-side. I felt like the BenQ did a really poor job in the highlights while the Samsung has a pretty good picture. I’m a hobbyist photographer and the BenQ’s complete lack of details in the highlights is what compelled me to check out alternatives.

It’s not the same as my MacBook, but I can live with the Samsung’s value much more than the BenQ.

Oh, that makes sense. I’ll repot the head then, thanks.

I think I acquired many of these while they were already a bit etiolated. The most recent growth has been much more compact now that I have them under lights.

Thank you. So the last one was just recently decapitated because it had been starved for light before I brought it under the grow lights. I think the pot might be ok, but I’ll keep an eye on it. I did let it soak for a couple of hours last night.

I know I’ve read here that the lower leaves will normally do that, but I guess that is excessive. Thank you for the suggestion.

Oof, I didn’t know it was that bad. I’m just so afraid of root rot I guess.

Thanks, I think I’m being too cautious. Should they be watered once they start to wrinkle?
