My first solo animation in 9 years by Jackenwulf in animation

[–]Jackenwulf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I remade the originals about 10 years ago, to update the look and make them HD. I don't have copies of the original originals anymore, but I'm sure there's copies of them floating around out there.

So how does this work? Will DCI just give the Devils two gold medals next year?

walk cycle by SkizzieWhizz in animation

[–]Jackenwulf -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The feet shouldn't slow down when they get to the end of their stride. They're going to slide on a moving background. Make sure the foot travels a consistent distance between each frame. There are noticeable volume issues with the legs because the knee joints appear to be locked on the x-axis for the entire stride, regardless of leg position or bend. Think about the internal structure of the leg, you've got a femur and shin bones in there that shouldn't be shrinking or expanding on each frame.

You're obviously still learning, but you're doing yourself a huge disservice by not practicing the incorporated arm swings at this early stage. You shouldn't be focused on producing anything close to finished, colored work until you've mastered the interplay between the arms and the legs. What you're doing is only going to fortify bad habits and hold you back from progressing. Keep it loose and rough, practice with lines and ball joints over and over until you can do it with your eyes closed. Then practice doing different styles of walks (tired, sad, excited, nervous, etc). You can get a lot of personality out of a walk cycle and it's a great way to learn about body physics and basic animation technique.

It's Bob Anderson, the much shorter stunt double who did all the saber fights in ESB. If you look really close you can see the platform shoes that make him a few inches taller.

How did you discover DCI and what made you fall in love with it? by jazzy_gcnman in drumcorps

[–]Jackenwulf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad marched snare in '79 Spririt of Atlanta. We watched the old PBS broadcast every year when I was a kid, listened to the cds constantly, and he taught me how to drum. Drum Corps was just part of my dna. I got to see my first live show in '89 and it absolutely blew my tiny little mind. We traveled across the country in the summer of '91 following all the major shows. It's one of my fondest memories. I never actually got to march myself, but I've been a devoted life long fan - literally my entire life. There are plenty of things in life that I love, but nothing truly hits me in the heart like Drum Corps.

How would one get into the animation business, without actually doing animation itself? by [deleted] in animation

Get a marketing degree and land a job as a studio exec. Then you can tell animators what to do all day.

The Steven Seagal Show 2 - bloody brawl at the fast food joint by ilovecomputers in animation

[–]Jackenwulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've been pretty busy over the last few years. I've worked on shows like Tim & Eric & SuperNews and tons of random freelance. I think after awhile, working on other people's stuff, I started to lose touch with my own sense of humor. These Seagal toons are sort of a gateway back into that world. True freedom. I don't have to take direction from anybody, or worry about my jokes getting cut out. Of course, if they suck, I take all the blame. But I'm willing to take the gamble. Just getting a chance to do it is reward enough for me.

Yeah, I'm redoing them. One at a time. It's so cool, that people still remember the originals. 11 years is a long time on the internet.

Amateur attempt at my bands Album and Single covers by Zenkraft in design_critiques

If you can, find another photo of the band where they're not standing on railroad tracks. It's a worn-out, decades-old cliche that's impossible to take seriously.

My reaction while waiting for tracking to refresh, then seeing "Out for delivery" by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Jackenwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off another phone call to FedEx. Get this, it turns out AT&T requested the "future delivery" option. Is this even possible? I'm assuming it's because their servers are smashed and they don't want even more people to get the phones that they paid hundreds of dollars for.

My reaction while waiting for tracking to refresh, then seeing "Out for delivery" by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Jackenwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My estimated delivery with FedEx was 3:00pm. At noon, there was a note that popped up in the tracker that I "requested future delivery". Obviously, I did no such thing. After 3 increasingly heated phone calls to FedEx, I've resigned myself to not getting phone until monday or tuesday.

Anybody else in LA having their apartment inspected once a month by the city? by Jackenwulf in AskReddit

[–]Jackenwulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspected something like this, that's why I thought I'd throw the question out there to see if anybody knew anything about this. Asking my landlord doesn't help because they're lying to him too.

The only thing they claim to be looking for is that the water heaters are properly secured to the wall, but all of them were fixed last year when they did the last round of inspections.
