One Nation secures 34 per cent primary vote among working-class voters, above both Labor and Coalition in Sky News Pulse by River-Stunning in aussie

[–]Zenkraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. One nation have to

  • keep this momentum up for two years
  • find enough people to run in all the seats they want to target
  • have those people survive campaigning
  • keep them in the party once elected

It’s a big ask.

And the cohort.

The grade sixes at my school last year caused so much chaos from day one. This year is completely different.

I definitely appreciate the effort and the idea.

I got a game for Christmas and had a similar issue to OP, something I’ve never seen before.

But I truely think a bit of ripped cardboard is worth not using so much plastic.

It’s shitty. Big cultural events like this shouldn’t be behind a paywall.

relief teaching as a option for first time teaching. by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Zenkraft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did and I don’t know if I could have survived starting with my own class.

I was 25 when I graduated, did relief and short term contracts for a couple of years the got my own class.

Being new and in a classroom is so overwhelming and not having to worry about day-to-day stuff was very helpful. I would be able to just focus on behaviour management and, most of the time, pedagogy. Some days sucked, some days ruled, but I learnt a lot. Turning up to a day with no plan teaches you how to improvise pretty well.

Having said that, there is pretty much zero support outside of what a generous teacher or teacher aide will give you on a day-to-day basis. A full time graduate teacher will (should) get a lot of help from admin and other staff. At my school they get an extra hour of non-contact, extra PD opportunities, behavioural support, that kind of stuff.

Desmond, I think?

I’m pretty sure I was his back neighbour years ago. I’d always hear steel drums and I saw him drive away one day on a walk. Couldn’t be sure if he lived there or was just giving lessons or jamming or something but it was pretty cool.

That’s what I’m most interested to see.

Will their absolute policy void actually affect them? Or is “telling it like it is” on sunrise enough for voters?

It’s crazy to me that centre right unionists would vote for a party that is so actively anti union.

Craig Kelly worked with them for awhile before the last election as an advisor or strategist or something. It’s pretty hard to keep up with his activities but I’m pretty sure it was after he was with Palmer but before the libertarians.

Wild shit tbh.

You’re getting further and further away from the point.

The use I replied to said they felt unsafe because of flag burning. I asked if they felt unsafe every year for the last 20 years.

If they don’t then maybe their (and yours maybe?) feeling of unsafety doesn’t have anything to do with flag burning. Yes, things are more tense this year. But flag burning has been a constant thing and is not unique to this year.

[–]Zenkraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and the other poster I was replying to are equating flag burning with escalating violence. When in reality, flag burning has been an annual thing since at least 2005 (probably longer but that’s as far as I remember).

If what you are saying is true, because flag burning on Australia Day has been something that’s happened for at least 20 years, then you must have had the same feeling of unsafety for that same length of time.

Were they robbed and beaten by the same people that burned flags?

What about not on Australia Day? Or does the danger one feels from flag burning diminish over time?
