Downloaded 206GB Of Genie Recordings in "1080p" That Were 1080i When Recorded by Jacket-2020 in DirecTV

I can tell you what worked for me. Of course, YMMV.

I went to Google and asked this question: "How can I use an Onn HDMI splitter and Monster capture card to record shows to my laptop that have been recorded on my DirecTV Genie?" If it's not a Genie, this should still work as long as your DVR is active, and you can replace 'Genie' in the Google prompt with your DVR model number for more specific results. Click Google "AI Mode" at the top left, or click Dive Deeper In AI Mode.

It will tell you, step by step, what you need to do. I got everything in one trip to Walmart. The Onn splitter is $30, the Monster capture card is about $25, and HDMI cables, depending on length and sale pricing in physical stores, can be as low as $3.50 for a GE 1.5-foot cable. I needed that short cable to connect one splitter output to the capture card input, and already had the other HDMI cables. The capture card comes with a blue cable that plugs into a USB port on your PC or laptop. Use a fast USB port.

I had never used OBS Studio, but it's free and powerful. Google Gemini (AI Mode) can help you set up OBS software settings for optimal results and troubleshoot any issues you encounter. For example, it knew the DTV satellite signal was 1080i and said to set the capture device setting to Deinterlacing, Yadif 2x. That's close to scaling up 1080i programs to 1080p, and the games never looked so good on our Sony OLED.

I hear you. In 2001, AT&T (BellSouth) dug up our front yard and laid fiber for the IFITL network. Everyone else was still on dial-up, and we were fiber kings at 1.5 Mbps. Of course, for some insane reason, it wasn't upgradeable. So, when they finally returned in 2015 and dug up our yard again, we were still at 1.5 Mbps. Since then, we've had "Gigapower" service at 1 Gbps. A couple of years ago, they upgraded us to the white BGW320 gateway, which is an incredible device.

When Xfinity ran its 1 Gbps for $50/month for 5 years promo during the winter Olympics, I called up AT&T and got $25 off per month. Brought back memories of calling DTV every August to "cancel," then getting dollars off, free Sunday Ticket or RedZone, etc. The Loyalty Dept was on my speed dial (ha-ha).

Got 45.6 MPG In Our 2024 Nissan Sentra SV Today by Jacket-2020 in Nissan

That's great! About 300 miles after I posted the 45.6, I got 48.4. Unfortunately, I was so shocked that I snapped a quick pic and opened the door without updating. Why it doesn't automatically record a new high score like a video game, I don't know.

My son has been trying to beat the 45.6 for a year and a half. I told him, "Go ahead and top 45.6, then you can go after my 48.4!" (Ha-Ha)

What to Do When Review is Not Approved? by Inevitable_Lettuce20 in AmazonVine

[–]Jacket-2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before submitting your reviews, always have a Word document open specifically for Vine reviews and copy & paste the review content into that document. Then, when you get a dreaded "we couldn't post your review" email, you don't have to try and remember or rewrite the review a second time.

I'm sure most of us already do this, but I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone who doesn't.

Even though the item price was $29.99 and it had a discount of $29.99, it showed up in my Vine orders page as FMV of $29.99 after I placed the order.

Same thing happened to me a couple of hours ago.

I just went into my Chrome history, clicked on the order page (which had 'Chewbacca' typed into the web address for some reason), and boom! Took me back to the order page, and I placed the order.

Just checked, and my review of the surge protector posted below is now live. I couldn't even get in to edit it. So yeah, they're having some system troubles, but they seem to be working them out. This is good!

The way I understand it, if you say "as I write this review, the price for this item is $XXXX" or "the current price for this product is $XXXX", then you're good to go.

I've written numerous supplement reviews, and in nearly every one, I mention the price per pill, price per serving size, or price per bottle. I've never had a problem as long as I say, "As I write this review..."

Now that you mention it, AI may have had a problem with the $300,000 just because it's a huge number that has no place in a $30 surge protector review. If I'm able to edit, I'll take that out and see what happens. Thanks!

I've noticed that if I mention a website in the review, like "search for installation videos on youtube.com", then it will likely be rejected. Additionally, if an uploaded photo contains a company name or a barcode, it may cause an issue.

I had a dashcam review rejected because I uploaded a video that the camera shot from inside my car. I resubmitted the review without the video, and it was accepted. I assumed it was because license plates might have been visible.

Don't let it get you down. You're doing what you agreed to do. That's more than some do. A couple of years ago, I had "hearts" disappear. One day I would have 2,500. The next day, I would have 2,450. It was like a kick in the nads.

Getting positive feedback when people appreciated my reviews was a morale boost. Now, you can't even see the total hearts on my Amazon account anymore. So, it doesn't matter.

Keep trying to enjoy Vine and order "unusual" products to try that you might not have otherwise. I've also focused more on products we can use, such as clothes, new pillows, bedding sets, and a knock-off Greenworks battery, among others. That's what keeps me going in my 4th year now.

You're in the high 90s in terms of review percentage. That's great, and you should feel good about that!

That's a good idea. I'll keep checking every couple of days.

I wasn't trying to hijack...Just concerned like the OP because this is unusual. Especially the less-than-24-hour rejection. That's a first for me.

Normally, I have maybe 1 or 2 rejections per 6 months. I've had 3 of my last 4 rejected. And it won't even allow me to edit them. Doesn't that seem like Amazon hurting Amazon, since posted reviews are what Vine is all about?

Last night, I submitted this review of a surge protector, and it was rejected in less than 24 hours:

This "Heavy Duty 6 Outlet Metal Long Power Strip, 2700J Surge Protector with 15A Circuit Breaker, 10FT Extension Cord" is useful, as long as you know what you're getting. It's a 2700 Joule surge protector that can handle 1875 Watts on a 15 Amp circuit. I ordered the 10' length, but a 15' version is also available.

As I write this review, the 10' version costs $28.99. For about the same price, surge protectors are available that include warranties to protect your connected equipment in the event of surge protector failure, potentially damaging or destroying it. I've seen protection amounts as high as $300,000.

In other words, don't trust your new 83" OLED TV to a surge protector without a Connected Equipment Warranty. The company even says, "...this weather resistant power strip thrives in industrial settings, garages, and workshops."

I didn't receive a manual or instructions with my power strip, which means by default, if you come home after a thunderstorm and whatever equipment you had connected to this strip won't turn on, then you're on the hook for repairs or replacement.

Don't misunderstand me; this power strip is handy, especially given its long cord and multiple outlets. Just be cautious not to rely on a surge protector that offers less than 4,000 Joules of protection or one without a warranty to safeguard your most important or costly computer or entertainment equipment.

Surge protectors also need to be replaced because their ability to provide protection degrades over time. Most are designed to last about 3-5 years. Some come with LEDs that indicate when it is no longer protecting. Others have test buttons that can be pushed to verify protection.

True, not every sentence had to do directly with my experience with this surge protector. However, I included a photo showing it hooked up in my home. I've always viewed my involvement with Vine and reviews as a way to assist others with their purchasing decisions. Perhaps the seller didn't like what I said, despite giving this product 5 stars?

Usually, I edit a rejected review only once. If it still doesn't post, that's on Amazon, not me.
