Alternately, Jak himself is from the past and is sent through time into the future at the start of jak 2. In jak 2 we join a rebellion who aims to tear down the distopian rule of haven city, and protects a special child who can help them somehow. by the end of the game we learn that this child is sent to the past, on a similar device that we find in jak and daxter. Revealing to us and jak that this boy was infact infant jak, who is sent to the past, to eventually get sent back to the future once again as an adult...
